Drying day ....

10th November 2021 (Wednesday)     06.30 .... It’s a peaceful morning;.....


at this time it’s still dark, so there’s not much happening right enough;  apart from ‘Blob’ twittering in the Rowan tree.   It’s going to be a good ‘drying day’ so there’s a washing going through the machine.... and I am feeling playful, so,  I’ll get the bike out and go for the paper about 07.00, and take in the sunrise from the harbour. 

09.30    The paper has been uplifted .... and I have been ‘roond the villages’.   There was never going to be a visible sunrise (at sunrise time) due to a bank of low cloud, but it is a lovely morning .... slightly chilly, but that will change once the sun does appear above the cloudbank.   Orf to put the kettle ‘on’.

15.00    In spite of having a migraine I enjoyed the History Society ‘coffee morning’ at the ‘Pav’;   I had Earl Grey tea..... and a coffee bun thing.     Myra brought along a piece of ‘Mauchline’ ware... in fact she donated it to the society.   We couldn’t make up our minds as to what it had been


used for;  it looked like a ‘piggy bank’ but didn’t have a slot for money going in.    It did have  drawer with a hole in it.    In the end we decided that it was an Earlsferry piggy bank;  one where you dropped the coin into the hole in the drawer....  it fell through and you still had your coin.   Yes that would be  Ferry ‘piggy bank’.    Oh.... the picture on the piece was one of old Earlsferry ... pre 1870.

17.00    Medium level ‘Flap on’:  The car tax reminder came in this morning (£30), due on the 1st December, so I decided to get that done with;  I then discovered that the MOT expires on the 22nd, so I can’t tax it until the MOT has been renewed.   It is now booked in for an MOT at the Fife Auto Centre, St Andrews.... on the 22nd!   Flap over..... kettle ‘on’.

20.30 .... It looked like we might have a decent sunset but there was a bank of low cloud,


so, although sunset was bonnie it wisnae brilliant.    Tomorrow’s weather looks like being a repeat of today’s.... though it might be cloudier.   I’ve had a good day;  but a mostly lazy afternoon.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
