Bonnie morning....

Image
30th September 2019 (Monday)     08.30 ....it was quiet on the beach Peaceful Elie Bay.... 5 minutes after sunrise. this morning;   the sky was bonnie and everywhere looked really peaceful;   even the local Heron couldn’t be bothered flying off when I got close to him/her.     That said it is a fairly tame Heron and I can get fairly close to it;   and, we usually have the early morning beach to ourselves.    It probably regards me as some kind of seal;   er ... a skinny seal.   I wish! There’s a fair amount of cloud about, but there’s very little wind so it’s a bonnie morning.    I’ll get the bike out after breakfast and do ‘The Grand Tour’... if I do it clockwise I’ll have morning coffee on the way home. Elie 'arbour. 15.30     ‘The Boy’ has had an enjoyable morning on the bike.... and I had morrrrrrning coffee in ‘arbour ‘ouse.    It is a big tide just now and there was a few low tide beaches exposed.     A few years ago there would have been folks down among the

Pittenweem Memorial .... ..,..

29th September 2019 (Sunday)      07.00 .... the sky is overcast and Fisher-folk Memorial at Pittenweem. there’s a frisky breeze from the East, so I haven’t been to the beach yet;   I’m enjoying a nice cuppa at the moment..... "sunny spells and light rain showers" are forecast ... once the sun gets going.    Just now it’s still below the horizon behind the bank of cloud. 17.30      I have had another ‘rest day’, though I did go to Pittenweem in the morning, on a scouting mission, to see the Memorial to Fishermen lost at sea.    It is an absolutely beautiful tribute to the brave men, and now women, of the fishing industry;   and brings home the real price of the fish on your plate.    I met Robert Melville and his wife out walking with their dogs:   Robert got photos on the day of the unveiling from a fantastic viewpoint;   to see his photographs visit the ‘East Neuks Beauty in Photos’ page on Facebook. Pittenweem Memorial. 20.00     Hey it’s cauld tonight

Bonnie sunrise ....

28th September 2019 (Saturday)      08.00.... We had a bonnie sunrise:   Elie Bay at sunrise. and the beach was busy with dog walkers, joggers... and Alison (or was it Lorna... I’m never sure) and me.     It’s ‘bright and sunny’ with a light Northwest breeze .... a bonnie day for getting out and about.    I might get the bike out after breakfast;   it depends on how busy the roads are. 14.30     It is a beautiful afternoon and the villages are busy with visitors and day trippers.     I went out on the bike and did ‘The Grand Tour’.... missing out the harbour:   even on the bike going to the harbour at this time of day can be tricky.    There is a brisk breeze from the west but it’s not cold;   it was enjoyable scampering through the estate.    I think the bike goes faster than the car!    Orf to have a cuppa. 'Artemis' (Elie) off the Beacon.  18.30     Well I did plan to have a ‘rest day’ and that is ‘iggzactly’ what I have had:   a lazy day.    I did a wee

27th September 2019 (Friday)        08.00 .... We have a cracker of a Linda at sunrise - the Ferry beach. morning , and we had a bonnie sunrise, made bonnier by a surprise visit to the beach by Linda;   she and her husband John have a second home at   Shell Bay.    They are a lovely couple;   John was still in bed .... oops...   would be sorting out the bacon and eggs for Linda’s breakfast.     You can see from the photo that this morning’s sunrise was of the especial kind. This is the Glasgow September weekend .... always a busy and cheerful weekend.     There’s afternoon tea in Kinneuchar Kirk so I’ll get the bike out for that... unless it’s raining (light showers are mentioned in the weather forecast for 'KY9';       in which case I’ll take the car.    It looks like being a day to be ‘out and about’.    I’ve got a washing going through but whether I dangle it out on the line remains to be seen;   the sky is beginning to look showery.    Tomorrow’s weather forecast i

Wet ....

26th September 2019 (Thursday)      06.30 ....   Everything in HMS Prince of Wales on sea trials. the garden is dripping wet and there’s rain water running down Ferry Road, but it isn’t raining just now;    but has been most of the night.     I might go down to the beach because, part from everything being wet, it is a nice enough morning.      We are forecast to have ‘light rain showers with a moderate breeze’.... and sunny spells! 08.30     The sun is breaking through and it looks like we are in for a decent day;   we could get a few showers but that won’t stop us enjoying ourselves.     I took the car down to the harbour and got a few pictures of Elie waking up.... and a couple of HMS Prince of Wales bumbling up towards Rosyth.   I have thought of going up to Pettycur this afternoon but the showers seems to be fairly frequent up that way so that idea was pigeon holed.    Must ‘go’.... feeling hungry. HMS Prince of Wales. 18.00     When I got back from ‘arbour ’ouse

Foggy and wet ....

Image
25th September 2019 (Wednesday)      07.00 .... Well...   it’s foggy, with Foggy and damp morning. Scotch Mist/light rain, but not too cold as there isn’t any wind;   not a morning for going out biking.      It is forecast to brighten up around about lunch time.     I’ll have a wander down to the bottom of the Wynd to see what it looks like on the beach;   after I’ve had a cuppa.       Oh...  that reminds me  I’ll be in Leven at morning coffee time;   hmmmm ....  I might get to ‘Leven Beach’ in time to have coffee with Jim. 11.30      Jim was in fine fettle this morning.... I made him a cuppa and we ate the goodies I’d bought in Sainsbury’s.    Not all of the goodies I hasten to add, just the couple I’d bought for us to have in Leven Beach.     I was early visiting Jim because there’s nothing wrong with the car that needs attention now:   like me it is old, and like me it can be upset by the weather.    In the cars’ case long spells of dry weather give it ‘dry bone’,... in my

Wet .... oops dry = showery

24th September 2019 (Tuesday)       07.30 ..... oh dear;    we have a wet Interesting sky over Chapel Green - Earlsferry. start to the morning, in fact it looks like it’s been raining all night .... not a bonnie morning at all.... and not one for going to the beach.    There is a few breaks appearing in the general greyness, but the sky does not look bonnie.... the ‘KY9’ area forecast is for ‘light showers and a gentle breeze’ so it should improve.     In fact it has improved as I type... I can see a ‘bloo’ bit!    Bring on the sunny spells!    I might go to the beach after this update.... the rain has stopped!     Must ‘go’ slight flap on.... going to try and find a sunny spot. 09.30    I have to say that I enjoyed my short walk on the beach... in fact I got fairly excited because we have an interesting sky in all directions;  (but I didn’t  a sunny spell)..... that means it isn’t plain ‘bloo’.... and there’s loads of stuff happening in the sky.   A few dogs were out walking

Autumnal Equinox ....

Image
23rd September 2019 (Monday - Autumnal Equinox)        07.00 .... It is Our pristine beach on a foggy morning. the kind of morning that, if I wasn’t on a ‘not eating things with chocolate on them’ diet, I’d be eating chocolate biscuits!    We have a dull and damp beginning to the day....     funny how fruit doesn’t having the soothing effect of chocolate on dull days.   I have only been as far as the front gate;   that’s where the urge to go to the beach left me.    07.45    No matter what the weather (apart from rain) I cannot resist the urge to go to the beach:  yes I  did go.   There's thick fog so I don't know if I had the beach to myself or not... but the bit I could see was empty;  apart from me and a lone Curlew piping somewhere in the fog.   It's actually a nice morning;  nae wind and warm. 14.30     I had planned to visit 'Jimbo' this afternoon but the Leven road is ‘Closed’ at Lundin Links:   a tractor has overturned at the bottom of the Lundin

Misty ....

22nd September 2019 (Sunday)      07.30 .. .. Mmmmmm;   we have a Sunrise time! misty morning but nice and peaceful.   There was only one gentleman out walking his dog and me on the beach... oh and the local Heron. The mist took on a warm glow as the sun came over the horizon.... and that was sunrise;   bonnie in a completely different way.    Now I need food.    I’m doing well with the diet, scoffing plenty fruit.  No chocolate biscuit has passed my lips since Wednesday. 09.00     It’s fairly cold today;   the wind is off the East right enough, and, though the sky is slowly clearing here it does look brighter towards the West.... ‘bloo’ sky can be seen over Largo Bay.   Largo Bay is named after the village of Largo.    I might get the bike out later;   after the sun heats the air up;   right now it’s cold. Midday. 11.00    ‘Bloo’ sky?.... the bloo didn’t last long and the bike has never been out.   Right now I’m at the computer enjoying having a coffee (yes one of my

Lovely day ....

21st September 2019 (Saturday)      08.30 ....we have a bonnie morning Cosy glow Ferry beach. ... and the forecast is for it to be sunny the whole day.    The only fly in the ointment is the wind which is from the East and cool.     The beach was very quiet this morning; as far as I could see I had it all to myself... which is more than can be said of the Ferry High street.... it’s full of cars.    It is the weekend right enough .... makes me think something could be happening;   I don’t know what....? 09.30    I have been a busy boy;    one of the sheets has been hung out on the line to complete the drying process, the other folded and hung in front of the radiator.    There’s a cool northeast wind that will dry the sheet, unfortunatly also means that I’ll leave any biking until later when the sun is scorching hot!    I’ve also made the bed;    I   think I deserve a cuppa. Ferry High Street 10 minutes after sunrise. 11.30.     Jings.... everywhere is busy this mornin

Crackin' mornin'....

Image
20th September 2019 (Friday)      08.30 .... it is a cracker of a morning;   Early morning sky over Elie bay.   the start of what is forecast to be a bonnie day.     I went to the beach to see the sunrise;   it was well worth the effort.     The beach was quiet, with only myself, a couple of dog walkers (Frances being one of them) and the local heron enjoying the scene. The ‘plan’ is to do the bedding, bike up for morning coffee at Harbour House then see how the mood takes me:    I’m feeling frisky.    21.00    I could get used to this weather;   in fact I think I may have got a touch of sunburn.      I’ve been out on the bike three times .... Elie twice, the estate and Chapel Green once.    In between times I got the bedding out on the line;   the sheets will have to go out again tomorrow as they aren’t totally dry.    I suppose I could iron them dry.    Midday. I’m missing ‘M’ so have to keep myself occupied. Graham and Elizabeth came round in the afternoon deliv
