Nice morning ....

31st May 2026 (Sunday)      10.00 .... It's a nice morning;  mostly sunny, with a cloud briefly hiding the sun now and again.    A good morning for Sasha doing the beach clean she organised for this morning.  I' had planned to go to The breakwater (starting point) to take photos for the blog, but got absorbed by 'work'.....  beds to strip and washing to do.     19.00     It has been a really nice, sunny and warm, day.... and  a perfect drying day.   Moving the computer was the big job when re-organising the bedrooms, but Iain had that done by mid morning;  I had the washing machine going and did the bedding, the last of which should be almost dry by now.    The first load dried in 'nae time'. Iain set off for Auchnagatt after lunch;  I did the second load of washing, then settled sown in The Hutte to watch the washing dry;  and do a Soduko.   It was too hot in The Hut...

20th May 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .....This is a perfect day for insects, so Iain is at the cliffs looking for  a butterfly that breeds there.  It certainly is a lovely sunny start to the weekend, but light rain showers could come our way later today.    At the moment it's sunny and warm;  which is why Iain is out with the camera.    Me? .... I'm going have another cuppa! 20.30    We've had a busy day;  well Iain has.     Hay fever has been bothering me, so I've been mostly useless.     Anyway the computers have been moved so a quick run round wi' the Hoover, (alias vacuum cleaner) and all will be good.  The bed will have to be made up but I can do that over the next couple of weeks.      The weather has been kind really;  only a couple of short light showers in the afternoon.   In fact Iain went up to Chapel Green to get a few photos of insects, and didn't ...

29th May 2026 (Friday)     11.15 ..... It's a lovely  morning and Ferry Road had been busy;  mostly because there's crane working at the West End of Ferry High Street.   When I set off to go to Elie I went up the High Street, making for Chapel Green, but had to reverse into Cadger's Wynd and drive (the wrong way) back down the High Street.    Anyway, I eventually reached Elie, handed in a prescription, then went to the 'paper shop';  Elie was busy!    I came back via St Ford, and found temporary traffic lights at the former farm cottages;  but, if the road is clear, they change automatically, so I didn't have to wait!   It's all go around Elie and Earlsferry this morning.   I need a cuppa! 17.15    Iain arrived at 11.15 (ish) ;  so we had a cuppa and came up with a plan for today.     We would go to Sainsbury's after lunch  to do the shopping.   In the meant...

28th May 2026 (Thursday)      09.00 .... WE have a lovely, sunny and warm, morning, with a light breeze from the SE.   The air is already warm so it's going to be hot in the afternoon.     It looks like being a 'rest' day for me.   That said the breeze should make it bearable.    Anyway the weather is due to change tomorrow, with the wind veering to the SW. 17.15    Joyful 'me'!    The weather has been sunny all day with a fresh SE win:  Actually it would be cool on the beach, but it was warm sheltered from the wind.     I've had a busy day;  not a hard working one, but one that had me doing something useful.   Sasha, and Nicola (daughter and Mum), came to find out what I knew about local erosion;  this was for a project she is doing at school.   I don't know if I was much help, but I enjoyed talking to them about Elie and Earlsferry.     Erosi...

27th May 2026 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... At the moment there's a layer of light cloud drifted in from the North Sea, on a light Easterly breeze.   However  the sun shouldn't rake long to burn that back; to give us with sunny intervals by lunch time.    Although the wind is Easterly it's not  cold, but definitely cooler than it has been for the past few days,   With the wind being off the sea I didn't go up to Chapel Green this morning, but did hang out a washing because it's a drying breeze!   I'd go out on 'The Buggy' but Ferry Road has been busy with traffic this morning;  it's still mid term so the villages will be busy. 17.15    The wind has freshened and, because it's off the sea it's chilly, especially after the heat of the past few days.    The change of wind direction and temperature does not agree with me, so I've been pottering around Ivy today.   Mostly  working on the com...

26th May 2026 (Tuesday)     11.00 .... It's an absolutely stunning morning;  and I have been up to Chapel Green (in the car)  to enjoy some sun, before it becomes too hot.   There's a nice breeze (SSE) so it will be a nice day for the beach. and golf course.    A few years ago I'd have gone out  early, on the bike, to go for the paper;  sometimes via St Andrews!   Those days are past.... but I have the photographs!    That reminds me I took a load o' photies up at Chapel Green so today's photographs were taken.... today! 15.30     I was amazed at how I felt this morning;  I can't say I was "bright eyed and bushy tailed'"... but I wasn't far from it, up at Chapel Green.   I even walked round the green, stopping  to have a rest at 'The Boss's seat.    When I left the seat I'd decided to do some 'ooverin' and dustin'.    That hadn't been on my mind when I got 'u...

25th May 2026 (Monday)     10.20 .... It was hot last night;  I woke up at 03.00 and couldn't get Balchrystie junction. back to sleep.     What did I do? ..... had  a drink of water, and did a hard Soduko!   That pleased me.  I eventually fell asleep and woke up  at 07.20 to a lovely sunny morning.    At the moment we have some cloud drifting over from the SW that hides the sun now and again;  but it  looks like being another hot day.... however there's a moderate SW breeze to keep us cool.    I haven't been out, in fact I'll be staying cool inside Ivy most of the time;  but will have morning coffee in 'The Hutte' shortly. 19.00     My word it has been hot today;  and tomorrow is going to be more of the same;  perhaps even a degree or so warmer.    The UK record for the month of May has been broken, both day and night, in the Southeast (London); day 34.8C, an...

24th May 2026 (Sunday)     10.00 .... As per weather forecast, we have a lovely, sunny and Evening rime clouds/ warm  morning.    There is  a sort of layer  of thin cloud, so the sun isn't hot;   as it will be if the cloud burns off.  The joggers have been out, and lots of folk wandering down to the beach;  a nice holiday morning!   Oh.... nearly forgot;  there's a light SW breeze to keep us cool. 19.00    It has been an absolute cracker of a Spring day, and loads of people have been raking advantage  of, what has been more like a day in the middle of summer actually!    I  even had a seat in the sun, but ended up going into 'The Hutte', and doing research .... and Soduko's.    That reminds me I set a Soduko up and have it to finish;  that will be the mission after this update.    I eventually had to abandon The Hutte because, even with the door wide open, an...

23rd May 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .... we have a lovely, sunny and warm (15C) KY9 this  morning;    and there's a cool, light breeze, off the SW .... a pleasantly warm start to the holiday weekend.   A bit different from the the SE corner of England, where there could be some really hot spots over the next few days.  imagine that the local beaches will be busy;  aye, even the Elie and Earlsferry beaches!    That said, when  cloud obscures the sun,  it's actually cool;   I'm off to find a scarf and windcheater.    Only joking;  but I am going to put the kettle 'on'.   20.00    It had been a lovely Spring Day, and loads o' folk have been going up and down Ferry Road .... to and from the beach  I assume.   The bulk of the cloud cleared away after lunch and it has been sunny and warm ever since.    There is a light Westerly breeze, so it isn't too hot...

22nd May 2026 (Friday)     I had an early appointment (09.00) at the Skeith Centre;  so I have  been a busy boy this bonnie morning.   And, as always happens as always happens booster jabs, the second day after the jab brings on a headache and an 'under the weather feeling'.   Anyway this will be a rest day, spent in The Hutte doing Soduko's. It's a lovely morning, a fair bit of cloud about, with a lot of sunny spells;   and  there's hardly any wind so it's warm.    It's never going to be as warm as down south, but it's going to be a nice, sunny and  warm weekend. 19.00     It has been a lovely Spring day, some clouds but most of the day we had  a long sunny interval.   As I said earlier this would be a l az ... rest day;  and it  has been.   Most of the time in the Hutte doing Soduko's and researching books.    The after effects of the booster jab are ...

21st May 2026 (Thursday)     09.00 ....  It's a lovely damp morning.   Lovely? .... yes, because the  pollen count  will be low.   Actually that's a bit of a bummer because I took an anti-histamine tablet that I didn't need to take!     Anyway I had a brilliant night of totally unbroken sleep last night;  that's one thing about the booster jab;  always get a few good sleeps!      I'l have another cuppa before going into 'action'. 15.30    The weather has been mixed, with some heavy rain in the morning, and sunny intervals in the afternoon.    Me?.... I decided to go to 'The Store'  to do a shopping for the long weekend.    Monday is the holiday, but the weekend will be busy... and stressful.   When I left to go to Anstruther the rain was light, but I drove into heavy rain at St Minnins... and had that all the way to 'The Store.   However I was...

20th May 2026 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... It's a nice, quiet morning here at KY9, a nice morning for being 'out and about'.    And joggers have been out enjoying the early morning peace, pattering sown, and up, Ferry Road.    Me? .... I'm ready to got for my booster jab;   I'm wondering if I should go to The Store first, and do some shopping..   This is a holiday weekend. 16.00    That's the COVID seen off for another six months;  and this was the fastest I have ever been 'done'..   I son't think I was in the building 5 minutes.    And that's going at the speed I move at!  I met Dave (Leitch) and Anna (from Elie) on the way out.   I gave Dave a run home, Anna was going to The Store.   I'd found out that this is another  Monday holiday weekend, so not quite as stressful as the Friday and Monday Holiday weekends.   The only hold up, was  the temporary traf...

19th May 2026 (Tuesday)     09.30 .... It's a nice morning with light rain just now;   therefore a low pollen count, and, more importantly the flower tubs have been watered!    I'm a 'happy boy'.   Actually we could have thundery showers in the afternoon, perhaps even thunder, so O won't have to water the tubs for a couple of days.   I'm even happier now than I was a couple of minutes ago!    Off to have a, celebratory, early morning coffee.   The sun is breaking through so I'll have morning coffee in The Hutte. 15.15    I've had a busy day!    What have I been doing?.... Re-applying for my Blue Badge, and by the time I did all the bits ans pieces necessary it takes a while.    At least it does nowadays!  I had to take photographs  for ID, address, .... and the photograph for the badge!   The last took the longest because I had to comb my hair;  something I r...

18th May 2026 (Monday)      09.30 ,,,, At the moment, it's a peaceful kind of morning in KY9;   A layer of cloud has moved  over us in the past hour on a light SE breeze.... and  'light rain showers' are forecast,  which the flower tubs would appreciate!  Actually I'm going to water the tubs after this update;  I meant to do it last night.    Ferry Rod is starting to get busy;  a couple of joggers just pattered their way past. 16.45    I've been lucky;  one of the showers that have been around this afternoon, came our way and watered the tubs;  but not enough so I'll have to do that again later this evening.    It has been a nice day, and reasonably warm in spite of the breeze being from the Southeast.   (Not my favourite wind direction).   I did some research on the computer, but never went out on the bike or buggy.   The wind has freshened in the last hour, and...

17th May 2026 (Sunday)     08.45 .... We have a nice morning, but a mix of light showers and Courtesy 'Countryfile' BBC 2. sunny spells is the weather forecast.   I have shower towels going through the machine at the moment;  I counting on the light showers being really light or, hopefully, non existent!     I haven't been outside yet but it looks like it will be warm when out of the wind and the clouds are somewhere else!     20.30     Most of today we've had lovely, warm, sunshine;  but it has clouded over in the last couple of hours.    We had some gig shower clouds, but the showers missed us, and, when I got back fro Leven the washing was bone dry.   After an early morning coffee, I decided to go to Methil to visit Alice, then do some shopping when along there.   That is what we did after a cuppa at Alice HQ.    Alice reminded me that the cleaning up of the River L...

16th May 2026 (Saturday)     09.15 .....  It's a nice morning, with light cloud and long sunny intervals just now.    It is warm in the sun, but cool out in the open.   This is going to be another rest day;  but, and this is good weather news;  a change of wind direction is coming, bringing warmer air our way.  I'm hoping it's a long spell of warmer weather;  not a 'hot snap'.   Off to put the kettle 'on' and have morning coffee in The Hutte.  15.45    It has been a lovely, sunny and war, day.   That said, the breeze has freshened do there's a bit of wind chill to contend with;  especially on the beach.   I was thinking of getting The Buggy out Ferry Road has been busy, and the chill breeze put me off that idea. I did go out in the car in the morning;  only to the parking place i use at the junction of the Kinneuchar Station road and the Elie road.   I noticed a l...

15th May 2026 (Friday)      09.39 .... We have a mix of shower clouds and sunny spells this morning;  and there's a brisk Northwesterly wind so it will be cold on the golf course and beach!    It's 9.6C on the patio thermometer.    I'm going to 'work' in The Hutte, and potter around Ivy today because it's too cold to go 'out and about'.   Ferry Road has been busy this morning;  having said that a car went past just now, and it was silent.   It must have been on battery power.   Off to put the kettle 'on'! 15.00    I fancied a wander to Nana's Seat, but only went as far as Ferry Corner, because it was too cold.   I thought the wind had moderated;  it had, but obviously not by very much.   I might o for a run in the car in the evening.    At the moment we have a batch of heavy looking clouds drifting over, but I don'tb think we'll get rain!    In the meantime, ...

14th May 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... It's nice, fresh morning, with a mix of clouds and sunny spells;  the wind is from the NNW do it isn't warm out in the open.   It will be cosy in The Hutte!    There was a strong smell of 'kippers' in the  this morning;  I assume it was coming from the smoke house in St Minnins..  This was early in the morning when the breeze was lighter with East in it. It seems like the Labour Party MP's are determined to have a Leadership contest.    Floundering around looking for a new leader is plain daft;  give the present Leader, and his team, the five years that they deserve after the  2024 Election victory!   Anyway, do any of of the 'Leadership' contenders have the qualities needed to lead the country? ..... or represent us at the International Table?   I think the MP's should think again, because they are getting close to the cliff edge! 13.30    The...
