"Red sky in the morning" etc ....

Image
23rd February 2018 (Friday) .... 08.00Welllll .... it was very cold on the beach this morning at sunrise time .... there’s a raw feel to the air, and a wind from the Southeast adding wind chill, so it feels, and is, cauld. The bike is unlikely to be out today! We had a ‘red sky in the morning, shepherd’s/sailor’s warning’ sky, and a bonnie sunrise (07.20).I thought I might get the complete sun as it came ‘up’, but the top of it began to disappear behind low clouds before the bottom came over the horizon;it was bonnie nevertheless.

20.00With the wind being from the Easterly direction it has been cold all day .... especially when exposed to the wind. Not that I was out in the wind much .... I didn’t go biking.I did go up to the Harbour House for morning coffee with Jim, Myra and Geoff;Harbour House was busy.
After the morning coffee, I decided to go to Leven and get some shopping;and to browse external door locks in B n’ Q’s.... the front door lock is beginning to give trouble. When I got ba…

Hard frost ...

Image
22nd February 2018 (Thursday) .... 08.30We have another lovely morning, but there is a hard frost, so it is cold;it might be too cold for me going out on the bike..... I’ll see how the temperature is in an hour. There is only a smirr o’ wind, but it’s from the easterly direction, so that isn’t going to boost the temperature. In other words .... apart from the temperature being on the low side, it’s gorgeous morning!I’ll have a cuppa then get the bike out.

20.00Jenny phoned this morning to say that she was going back to Sussex tomorrow, did I fancy going up to the ‘Fudge Doughnut’ factory in Cupar?‘JB’ is suffering from a serious lack of Fudge Doughnuts (hereafter FD’s).... and Jenny was in a position to remedy this.Jenny was within range of the FD factory. It took less than a nano second for me to say “yes” .... I did fancy a trip to the FD factory. It was a bonnie morning for a run to Cupar.
While Jenny stocked up with the vital ingredients, I organised the coffee and scones that we woul…

Spring like morning .....

Image
21st February 2018 (Wednesday) .... 08.30It looks like being another spring like day, after another beautiful sunrise. After all the sun rise photographs that I’ve taken, I came across something ‘new’ this morning;something that I shall be prepared for in future..... which could of course could be anytime. It might happen tomorrow, but it might not happen for months/years.There’s hardly any wind again, but there was a touch of frost at sunrise time;the rising sun will soon shift the frost. After another cuppa I’m going to get the bike out;in fact I’ll get the bike out before I have another cuppa.

20.30      We’ve had another beautiful, Spring-like day, though it has been a bit colder;  the wind, luckily it’s light, is from the Easterly direction.    I went out on the bike, and I the new eye protection does keep the wind out of my eyes .... and any other stuff as well.    I went to the Harbour House for coffee with Myra, Jim and Geoff.... after which I biked home via Elie Estate.    It w…

Leslie Bike Shop .....

Image
20th February 2018 (Tuesday) .... 08.30Apart from a bank of cloud on the southern horizon (that obscured the sunrise), we have ‘a wall to wall’ blue sky; though I’ve no doubt that might change as the day progresses. It is a bonnie morning, bright and sunny with hardly any wind. As per ‘plan’ I am going to The Leslie Bike Shop (Glenrothes) to buy eye protection, after which I’ll go to Dysart Harbour for a cuppa. On the way home I might as well drop into Sainsbury’s (Leven) and get any ‘shopping’ that I can think of.‘Puku’ is rumbling away so I’d best go and have some breakfast.

21.30     This has been a bonnie Spring like day;  and it had me in working mode after I got back from this morning’s mission.    That means the felt on the wee shed has been properly nailed down.

The Leslie Bike shop is the perfect place to go for all things ‘bike’;it has everything you’d expect in a proper ‘bike shop’.I had a look at the battery assisted bikes, of which there is a good selection, before going to th…

Gloomy weather ....

Image
19th February 2018 (Monday) .... 09.00Oh dear ..... I’m glad we have the Olympics to watch on the tele:it’s gloomy and damp outside .... not a morning for the beach.Although dreich, it is warm, and, the rain, which we had earlier, has moved away;hopefully the sky will clear later. There’s a lack of inspiration on a morning like this..... I’ll have one of my manky coffee’s;everything looks brighter after a Hutte coffee.     Funnily enough I'm feeling frisky.... in spite of the gloomy weather.
20.00     You’d hardly believe it:  it has been overcast all day, but the sun managed to break the clouds through at 17.15, about 10 minutes before sunset.....  it’s going to be a ‘bright and sunny’ day tomorrow.

I’ve had an enjoyable day;I even went out twice .... in the car.In the morning I went down to Elie harbour;in the afternoon I went to St Monans harbour..... I like harbours, even though they are cauld places most of the time. There were reflections on the still water, so I was a happy …

Exquisite sunrise time .....

Image
18th February 2018 (Sunday) .... 08.30We had an exquisite (‘exquisite’ is a bonnie word -must remember to use it more often), and peaceful, sunrise this morning;the tide was half way out, there was hardly any wind, so there were reflections on both sand and sea.... I’m a happy boy. There was a touch of frost in the air, but that is beginning to lift.It looks like the early morning dog walkers (and me) had the best of the day .... the sky is beginning to cloud over:might get rain later in the afternoon. I’m going to Kirkcaldy to have a look at battery assisted bikes;I need battery assistance to get me up to Kilbrackmont. This could be an age thing!I’ll browse Halfords choice of bikes, pick up some ‘blurb’ leaflets, then buy a bike when Spring arrives.Must ‘go’, ever so slight ‘flap on’.

19.30The roads were quiet on my trip to Kirkcaldy;then again I left early thinking that Halfords would be open at 09.00.They didn’t open until 10.00 ..... so I had a cuppa in Sainsbury’s Cafe.Sainsbury’s (…

Dour kind o' mornin' ...

Image
17th February 2018 (Saturday) ..... 08.00The sky is overcast, and we have had a few spits and spots o’ rain, so I haven’t been out, for mybreath of lovely Earlsferry air, on the beach this morning. The sky should start to break by mid-morning;giving us a sunny afternoon.I’m a bit stiff after re-felting the shed roof yesterday, but I’ll walk that off in the afternoon.

20.00     ‘The Boy’ has had a frustrating day.    I took the car to Leven to have it valeted thinking I’d be back in the ‘Royal Burgh’ in time to go to the Coffee morning.    I wasn’t .... back in time for the ‘CM’;    I didn’t get home until 12.05.    However the car is clean... having it done professionally is a ‘one off’ job, and I must say it is looking braw inside.;  so I’m happy in that respect.    I’m not happy that I missed the ‘CM’ (Coffee Morning).

When waiting for the car I went to Sainsbury’s for ‘breakfast’ and, lo and behold I met David (Stevens).... and Fiona (Thompson) in Sainsbury’s;they were having a cuppa …

Spring like morning ....

Image
16th Feb 2018 (Friday) .... 09.30It’s a gorgeous morning;it is breezy but it didn’t feel as cold, as it has been for the past few days,on the beach.Sunrise time was bonnie, and I got lucky;a jogger pitter pattered along the beach, just as the sunwas coming over the lighthouse rocks .... bringing this morning’s photo to life.I’m a happy bunny.
With it being slightly warmer I’m wondering if I couldthe wee shed roof.... the felt has torn with the wind. You can’t work with felt when it’s cold.... it’s too stiff. At the moment the roll of felt is in the Hutte, so it is warm .... it’s when it’s out in the cold the problems arise.I’ll see how the temperature is around midday. In the meantime I have a washing on (it’s a braw drying day);and I could cut the felt into the appropriate lengths.I need a caffeine fix first!

19.30     The ‘Boy’ has been a bundle of action today;   however, although feeling tired (after the ladder climbing), I am well contented.     Not only did I cut the felt for the she…

Another mass shooting in USA .....

Image
15th February 2018 (Thursday) .... 08.30Wellll .... it’s windy and cold, and I got caught in a rain shower on the way down to the beach, so... although bonnie enough,.... with mostly blue sky now.... it’s a typical, late winter morning.I might go out later in the morning, because it looks like the showers have died away, and I fancy a bit of exercise. We have the ‘Drop in Cafe’ in the afternoon;that’s always a pleasant couple of hours chatting. At this moment I need a drop of caffeine.... slight ‘flap on’.

18.00    It’s been a quiet kind o’ day for ‘the Boy’.    In fact I’m glad we had the ‘Drop in Cafe’ to brighten the afternoon up, with loads of chat.... some of it quite ‘deep’, and all of it interesting.
In the mornin go I decided to go to Leven;I fancied a some shopping, ... and a cuppa in Sainsbury’s.The shopping went perfectly;I was half way between Leven and Lundin Links when I remembered the cuppa. This must have been my lucky day, as, when unloading the car, Jim and Myra passed on…

Windy and very cold .....

Image
14th February 2018 (Wednesday) ..... St Valentine’s Day;I’ll begin by sending love and hugs to all my ‘girlfriends’ around the World;I hope you have a happy and loving St Valentine’s Day. (((((hugs))))) and xxxx’s.
This mornin g was the coldest I have been on the beach this year;it was freezin’.There’s strong wind (F5) from the South, so no shelter from the dunes.I did go along to the Cockstail rocks and found a nook out of the wind, but the view of the sky was restricted.I was glad to get back to Ivy and have breakfast.

20.30It’s been windy and very cold all day, though the sun did eventually breakthrough, in between showers, in mid afternoon. We’ve had sleet/rain showers.... and one heavy shower of hail;not a day for being out. Thankfully we had the Friendship Lunch to brighten up our day;with food, chat, tea/coffee and biscuits. The hall was busier than I thought it might have been:the weather being wet and miserable at midday. However the sun was beginning to break through by the time …

Yep .... it's skiing for the boy

Image
13th February 2018 (Tuesday) ... 09.30Although windy, with spits and spots o’ rain, it didn’t feel as cold, as it did yesterday, .... when I was down on the beach this morning. Does that make sense?Yes ... it does.It is not the bonniest of weather forecasts for the morning;but the clouds are forecast to disappear at 12.09... or thereabout.
Oh .... forget figure skating;I’m into downhill skiing this morning. That looks more like the thing for me.I’d throw Puku out of the start gate, and we’d be orf;   being that I am attached to 'him' I'd  follow ‘him’ down. We’d cross the Finish line as a big snowball, full o' flag poles.Yes .... I fancy the downhill, and slalom, skiing.
I don’t have a ‘plan’ for today.I woke up, checked my that my aches and pains were all in place;then had a look out to see if we were going to have a bonnie sunrise. It looked promising so, after a very quick shower, I grabbed the camera and was orf to the beach. The aches and pains? They vanished as soon as …

Windy and cold .... and not just in Korea!

Image
12th February 2018 (Monday) ....09.00We have a bonnie morning;but, frosty and windy.... so feeling very cold:as I found out when down on the beach to catch the sunrise (07.46). This will be another day of staying in and warm , watching the Olympics, though I might bake a round of scones;that’s always a warm job.Eating freshly made scones, especially on a cold day, is very agreeable.

20.00I’m thinking that I may be watching too much of the Olympics:on the way down to the beach in the afternoon I was looking for a frozen puddle so that I could have a go at doing a Triple Salchow.Luckily I didn’t find one:a frozen puddle i.e. We’ve had a cold day;the fact that there’s been a brisk wind brought the temperature down by a good few degrees.I ventured out a couple of times;to the beach in the morning, and late afternoon. Both times there were folk on the beach;like me they were well wrapped up.
Later in the morning I took the car for a wee run down to the harbour:not the best of places to go on …
