WEt and windy ....

Image
31st October 2021 (Sunday)    10.00 .... we have a wild, wet and windy, morning.    I went out on the bike early to miss the rain, and actually enjoyed doing the ‘round the villages’ at sunrise time.     The rain began at 09.15, and I am ensconced it Ivy, with a cuppa at hand.     We had a bonnie sky at sunrise time (sunrise happened behind low cloud), which I viewed from Chapel Green, but there was a fresh wind coming from the southeast, so it wasn’t warm.    The rain is forecast to be  of the ‘heavy showers’ kind, so we might have a few sunny spells between showers.     It’s a computer day for me;   I have a whole load of photographs to 'play' with. 21.00     Wellll .... we had a bonnie sunrise.... and a bonnie sunset.    The bit in between was mostly windy and ‘damp’.     Luckily I took advantage of both sunrise and sunset, and got some exercise.     Out on the bike in the morning, and had a walk up to the Pony Field and golf course in the evening.       The wind had mode

Overcast with blustery showers ....

30th October 2021 Saturday)    08.00 ....  Plan ‘A’, going round the villages on the bike, has been shelved for now, due to rain.   It was fine, by that I mean ‘not raining’ an hour ago, but blustery showers are forecast for the morning:  I’ll go out in the later afternoon.... after the rain has moved away, and ‘sunny spells’ move in.    It’s a computer morning. 13.00     The sky is beginning to break up and we’ve had a short glimpse of the sun;   soon to be followed by longer ‘sunny spells’..... I hope.     The bike has been looked at, with a view to going out in an hour or so.... after a cuppa, and once the sunny spells (rather than a blink) start.     I’m feeling ‘bright eyes and bushy tailed’ and want to burn orf some energy.... and have at least a wee bit o’ exercise.    The camera trigger finger is beginning to seize up. 21.00    My word;  the villages sparkled after the sun came out this afternoon.... and loads of folks were out enjoying the welcome change in the weather.    I

29th October 2021 (Friday)   10.00 .... I’ve come to the conclusion that subtle side effects from the jabs last longer than two days.   For instance;   I have been tired, ‘lazy’.... and not getting out of bed until 07.30 .... yesterday 07.45.    I’m feeling brighter this morning, and got ‘up’ at my normal time .... 06.00.   Mind you when I saw the weather, my first thought was ‘go back to bed’;  but, as I said, I feel brighter... and still do.    The paper has been picked up, the harbour visited (in the car) and I feel more like the ‘normal me’ again.    Having said all that.... I’ll probably fall asleep in front of the tele; it’s not a morning for going ‘out and about’. 15.00     I couldn’t understand why my phone wasn’t working properly ..... the I remembered it was going digital on the 28 th , and that I had to plug it, the phone, into the back of the router.    Job done and the phone is working perfectly.    When I was at the harbour this morning, I noticed that we had pale pat

28th October 2021 (Thursday)     08.30 ....   Hmmmmm ..... it’s overcast and December 2005. very wet at present, but I do see paler patches in the general greyness;   we might have sunny spells by lunch time.   It’s a morning for finding a good film on the tele, working on the computer or reading a book; this is going to be a ‘rest’ day.     I might take the old microwave to the recycling depot later, but right now it’s time to have breakfast.    20.30    I have had one lazy day;    and I have really enjoyed it.    The only ‘work’ I did was sort out the kitchen and try out the new microwave.    The microwave makes all the right noises (and heats up stuff) so it’s working perfectly.    The rest of the time I watched a couple of episodes of ‘Frost’ and two of ‘Heartbeat’.... and did a wee bit of computer stuff, and a three hard Soduko’s.     This is probably the most ‘restful’ day I have had for years;    I enjoyed it but it’s not really my scene.   I didn’t even go to the recycling

27th October 2021 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... It’s a beautiful morning: I have done the villages ‘tour’.... and remembered to go for the paper;   now I am ready for breakfast.    The sky was interesting so I have a load of photographs to ‘play’ with after breakfast. 12.00    I spent an interesting hour at the ‘Pav’ this morning;  having a pot of Earl Grey tea, a fruit slice,  and chat with a few of the History Society members.  Some normality is coming back into our lives.... albeit slowly.    My hearing is abysmal just now..... oh dear.... do I need a hearing aid? The microwave I ordered is ‘on its way’, and has reached the local depot.    I’ll have to stay around Ivy this afternoon, though I don’t expect the delivery until tomorrow.     I’ve got loads of photographs to ‘play’ with.... and food to have;    it’s nearly lunch time. 19.30     My word I have been a busy ‘boy’:   the microwave was delivered today and is plugged in, the clock set (it’s an easy clock to set), but I had to

26th October 2021 (Tuesday)     08.30 .... ‘Strong winds and rain’ is the  forecast for KY9 this morning, and.... strong winds and rain we have; thankfully, the rain isn’t heavy.... not just now anyway.  It’s a morning for finding something decent to watch on the tele, working, or reading a book.   The rain should move away by early afternoon.... leaving us with the fresh wind to dry the wet roads, and give me a chance to get out. 15.30     I have a funny feeling that the bike won’t be out today:   There has been an improvement in the weather, and the roads are beginning to dry, but we continue to have spells of Scotch Mist type wetness.... so it’s back to the kettle and the computer.      I looked for a decent film to watch, so that I could have a catnap, but couldn’t find anything:   let’s face, the tele is being used as an advertising platform with bits of film between the adverts: encouraging folk to buy stuff they don’t need .... ‘1984’ (George Orwell) is here. 21.00    It hasn’t

Mild and breezy ....

25th October 2021 (Monday)     07.30 ....It’s a bonnie, mild morning, with a frisky breeze, and long sunny intervals:  I haven’t had a long sunny interval yet, because the sun has yet to rise..... but expect them, hey are mentioned in today’s weather forecast for KY9.    I will have a walk (a stick assisted hobble) to the beach) before breakfast: after breakfast I’m going to Leven to buy a microwave. 11.30    I’ve been to Leven but came home without a microwave.    Argos, now above Sainsbury’s didn’t have the one I was looking at in stock and it had to be ordered online and delivered. I can do that at home, so I won’t be visiting Argos again.    I did get a few things from Sainsbury’s so the trip wasn’t wasted;   and it was a grand day for a run, but my word the roads are busy nowadays..... even Ferry Road. 18.30    I encountered a couple of heavy squally showers on way to and from Cupar.... I had to sit in the car for a while at The Adamson till the rain had slackened off.   I still

Damp ....

24th October 2021 (Sunday)     07.30 .... We’ve had some overnight rain, but it wasn’t raining when I went out at 06.30:  that said, I can’t see the stars so the sky is overcast and light rain is forecast for the morning. I had a good night’s sleep and I feel fine, but the left arm injection site is slightly sore:   if it wisnae damp, and dark, I’d go out to play. 17.00     It looked like we were going to have a colourful sunrise so I got organised for a wander down to the beach;   unfortunately it was spittin’ rain but I managed to get the ‘red sky’ as it was fading.    It was cloudy, with squally,   light showers at the time;   and, I had to come   home when one of the light   showers wasn’t   light.    In spite of the light, intermittent, rain, I enjoyed the walk... and planned to go out on the bike later in the day. I spent most of the morning working on the computer, until the sky cleared,   and   the showers   became clouds to be admired, across at Edinburgh, and the ‘sooth

Jabs ....

23rd October 2021 (Saturday)     08.30 .... Myra dropped me off just a few Kinneuchar - yesterday. minutes ago, having been to Anstruther for our ‘jabs’.:  the kettle is ‘on’ and I am well ready for breakfast.    Myra did invite me up for coffee, but I thought I’d better have breakfast before my morning caffeine fix.      We arrive early at Anstruther, and were first in the queue;   in fact the door wasn’t ‘open’ when we got there (8 minutes early);   but it was a smooth running operation when we did get in..... I was 20 minutes before ‘my time slot’, but was taken straight away.      After the ‘jabs’ we had to sit for 15 minutes in case of anaphylactic shock.    Everyone gets bits of paper to read re the ‘jabs’ so I’ll make the coffee and see what the ‘rools’ say. Kinneuchar. 17.30     Wellll .... I haven’t been out, other than for the jabs first thing this morning:     but I have worked in the kitchen, making ready meals for the freezer.    After lunch (chicken casserole) I felt t

Sunny spells ....

22nd October 2021 (Friday)     08.30 .... There was a heavy shower o’ rain when I went for the ‘paper’ early;  fortunately I was in the car, so I decided it was a good shopping day, and went to ‘The Store’.   ‘The Store’ was busy this morning;  and ...  it looked like the ‘panic buyers’ had been in last night as a few of the shelves were empty.   The shelves were being restocked as I bumbled my way round.    I got all the bits and pieces I wanted, and enjoyed  a relaxing drive home.   Everything has been put away in the appropriate cupboards;  and I am ready for breakfast. It looks like being a nice day.... a sunny spells chance of a shower kind o day.    I hope to get the bike out after breakfast. Last night I watched a film, ‘Restless Natives’(1985) on Channel 81.... the last scene was shot on the top of Kincraig Cliffs. 19.30    Jings I am one tired bunny tonight;  but I have had long and busy day.... and enjoyed it.    After breakfast I got the bike out and set off to go to Kinne

Bright, breezy and cool ....

21st October 2021 (Thursday)   09.00 .... It’s a beautiful morning;  with the St Monans. wind being from the NNW it’s cooler, but, wrapped up its ‘braw oot’.   Last night I worked late on the computer.... and  slept in this morning (07.30), so  I haven’t been further than the front gate .... but, will go out after breakfast.   It  looks like being another good drying day.... albeit a cold one.   19.00    After I picked up the paper I decided on a change of harbours....and went to St Monans.      A couple of men were working on their yachts on the pier (Crane Out’ also took place there this week).      One of them had sailed their yacht, from Milford Haven (SW corner of Wales) to St Monans.    The journey was done in stages as he was working in between stops, so it took a few weeks.    I was half way out on the middle pier when the camera battery ran out;   and the camera bag, with spare batteries, was in the car. 'Four Winds' building site. Myra invited Kirstie, Geoff and me

Bright and breezy .....

20th October 2021 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... we have a lovely, bright and breezy, morning;   a perfect day for the washing.... and being out in the fresh air.     There’s a lot of fresh air about so it feels slightly cooler than it did, but it’s not cold.     I’ve remembered that someone is coming to see about a ‘disabled’ (dinnae like that word) parking space.     We locals actually have the parking in Ferry Road working fine;     unfortunately strangers, (and my ‘knee bones’), don’t always co-operate, hence trying to get a space nearer the door.    Whoever comes to see about it, will be someone to talk to; that’s always good.    Orf to have breakfast; “Slight flap on” now.     10.00    I’m ‘in love’ (this could be the real thing);  with two girls from Fife Council who came and explained parking with a Blue Badge.    I can moor the car on the ‘double yellows’ in the summer time as long as I display the badge, and not causing an obstruction.... which I wouldn’t be moored up at the g

Light rain ....

19th October 2021 (Tuesday)     09.00 .... It was raining when I went to the harbour;  not heavy just annoyingly wet.    I have to go up to Elie later (Chemist) so I’ll pick up the paper then.... probably in the car ‘cos we have light rain, on and off.    I’m thinkin’ that it’s going to be a computer day. 18.30   It has been a mixed up kind of day.... but it certainly wasn’t cold.    I went up to Chapel Green, late in the early evening, and was surprised at how many people were wandering around.... on what was a balmy evening;  though we did have a few drops of rain at one time.    The ‘light’ was gorgeous, with the ‘sooth side’ bathed in evening sunshine... so that was well photographed. I’ve done lot of stuff on the computer and I’m happy with how my day went.... but I am feelin’ tired now.    I’ll have a light dinner and find something to watch on the tele;   and probably fall asleep.      I didn’t have a catnap in the afternoon. 21.00     I did fall asleep in front of the tele;

Overcast and damp ....

Image
18th October 2021 (Monday)    10.00 .... It was overcast, but dry when I went for the paper;  it was dark enough for the bike lights to come on, so not really a mornin’ that had me wanting to frolic and play;  not outside anyway.   At the harbour the boats are lined up alongside the pier, ready for ‘Crane Out’ this morning.    I had hoped to go down for ‘Crane Out’, but there’s some light Scotch Mist at the moment so that plan has been cancelled:  in fact it looks like the bike won’t be out again today.   Kettle ‘on’.    15.00    I went out in the car to get a few photographs of ‘Crane Out’;  it was spittin’ rain all the time.... then the rain began to get heavier, so I went back to Ivy and put the kettle on.    At the time of writing (now) the sun is trying hard to break through, but it’s spittin’ rain at the same time:  I think I have finished with biking for the day.   Anyway, the research has reached a ‘can’t stop now’ stage .... might need another cuppa. 'Crane Out' at El

Bad hair day .....

17th October 2021 (Sunday)   07.30 .... My word.... we have a wet, and bleak looking start to the day.   After a lot of overnight rain, we now have ‘light rain’ so everything, and everywhere, is wet.   It’s a computer/TV/ multiple cuppas day:  I’m having my second cuppa of the morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrning, before I loup intae the car to go for the paper.   The light rain should fade away after lunch.... if we’re lucky; we might even have a late sunny spell. 09.00    It is dreich right enough;  but the ‘paper shop Team’  brightened up the morning..... as they always do.   The harbour was quiet,  (which didn’t surprise me,) there was only me and a Carrion Crow:  however, all was not gloom (forgot the 'doom and'),  the sky sometimes looked like it was beginning to lighten:  I might get the bike out in the afternoon. 19.00    Every time I went out to see if I should get the bike out, we had light Scotch Mist, so I eventually gave up, and decided to forget about going out today.   Howe
