Feeling happy and excitable ....

31st May 2017 (Wednesday) .... 10.00   Jings when I woke up this morning I didn’t feel any of my normal ‘pains’ .... I thought I’d died.    However, when I flicked myself out of bed and all my joints fell into place,  my sair bits fell into place too, and Stewart trimming the road verges on the estate. everything was back to normal:  I had a shower, quickly followed by a migraine ... then breakfast.    Since then I’ve biked through the Estate, took a few photographs, got the papers, (and milk), blethered, and I am now back in Ivy with the kettle ‘on’.    I met Jimmy walking up to Elie House using his ‘hurdy gurdy’:   it’s a handy thing as it comes with a seat so he can stop for a rest anytime;  he expects to be at Ivy for a cuppa about 10.00.    Must ‘go’ ... slight flap on’ this morning... we have the Colinsburgh Light Lunch at 12.30. 21.30    My word .... The Colinsburgh Lunch was delicious:  I had Mushroom soup (there was a choice of two) followed by Lemon Meringue pie (ther

30th May 2017 (Tuesday) .... although it is overcast, with occasional spells of light rain, the tide is ‘in’, and the sea is like a ‘mirrah’.... yes I’ve been out (on the 'Flotilla' of Eider duck making for 'Elie harbour. bike because I can cover more ground that way) got a load of reflection photos from the cliffs to the harbour....  and, I did get caught in one of the wet spells; but it was worth it.     Actually the sun is going to break through soon so I’ll get out on the bike again;   and get some ‘brighter’ pictures:  it should be ‘bright and sunny’ ....  with showers in the afternoon. 22.30     I’m a happy boy tonight.... having had a reasonably busy and satisfying day.    I got some excellent ‘reflection’ photos in the early part of the day, and some ‘bright and sunny’ ones on the beach later in the morning.   We have had a lovely day, which is ending with a gorgeous, if breezy, evening.    The ‘troops’ Jim and Jimmy have been Quiet harbour. down for ou

Overcast and cool....

29th May 2017 (Monday) .... 10.30    The weather is “iggzactly” as was Earlsferry poppies. forecast .... “overcast with a cold Easterly wind”;   a nice enough day for walking, which is what I did.    Instead of going out on the bike I walked the beach, Sea Tangle road and Chapel Green ‘route’, and had a good potter about the ‘Dome Park’ and the Chapel Ness rocks.    I say ‘cold’ East wind, but it isn’t that cold, but it is noticeably cooler that it was in Summer time ... oops .. over the past few days. 22.30     The weather remained mostly dull all day;  and we had a short spell of light rain around lunchtime.    The rain put paid to my ‘plan’, which was to go up to Chapel Green with the Canon camera,  to take a photo in less windy conditions than it was in morning.     However that can wait;   and the wind never really dropped anyway.    Instead of going out I switched on the tele to watch the News.   When I woke up I discovered two things;   it was raining, and all my neighb

Feeling frisky ....

28th May 2017 (Sunday) .... 09.00    There’s a fresher feel to the air this morning, ... and it has clouded over.    When I went out, at 07.00, it was ‘bright and Early sunshine on Earlsferry. breezy’ ... now it’s ‘overcast and breezy, with spells of sunshine’.   Right now the wind is Westerly, but is forecast to change to Easterly, later in the afternoon.    The ‘Ferry’ was quiet this morning.... only two workers on the golf course, and one jogger on the beach;  oh ... and a lady walking her dog on Ferry Road. 21.30    On the road to Leven this morning (Jimmy needed food things) we passed a lady cyclist at Kinneuchar Station;  we both thought she looked elderly, but, ....  she was wearing a grey cycle helmet, so she might not have been ‘elderly’.   Anyway, we saw her again, on our way home;   on the cycle path outside Lundin Links making for Leven;   that would be about 45 minutes after we first saw her.   The roads were busy with cars etc. ...so she’d be glad to get off the r

Both the weather and 'the boy' (that's "me") are feeling 'fresh' this morning......

27th May 2017 (Saturday) .... 09.00     We have a bonnie morning, but it feels ‘fresher’ and there’s a fair breeze from the East..... I’m using the ‘stiff breeze’ to Elie Estate. dry a washing I hung out this morning!    The villages are busy, but the roads were quiet when I went along for the paper;  and I had an enjoyable run out on the bike.   The ‘Yellow’ warning for heavy thunder showers is still in force for the late afternoon evening.... my washing will be dry by then.    Will it have been ‘taken in’? .... hopefully “yes”. 21.00    First I must give a ‘Washing update’ for those of you who ‘lost sleep’ worrying about my washing ....   I did remember to take it in  .....   before the rain arrived.     In point of fact the ‘storms’ weren’t that bad;   we had a few of rumbles of thunder, and a couple of spells of really heavy rain.    The very worst of the thunderstorms happened Elie estate. around the Midlands of England, and  mostly petered out before reaching the ‘

26th May 2017 (Friday) .... 09.30    The garden thermometer is already at Kincraig cliffs Earlsferry. 20c, on what is a stunning morning .... and it’s forecast to be like this all day;   and there is only a smirr o’ a breeze, so it could be really hot later..... as in ‘mauchless’ hot. I went out on the bike at 06.00;   did the Chapel Green, Elie Harbour and Elie Estate ‘run’ .... it was lovely, but I was just a bit too warm by the time I got back to Ivy at 08.40.     I managed to get a few photos when out .... my next ‘move is to have a cuppa and check them ....  (the photos). Elie Bay. 21.30    After looking at my photos this morning I biked along to Jimmy’s;   Jimmy had to stay in “No 10” until the Worcester Service engineer arrived.   We had a cuppa , and a blether, then I poodled my way back to Ivy ....  via South Street. Once again we’ve had a hot day .... it was 23c in Ivy garden at midday!    I had to resort to having a siesta from midday through to 15.00 .... i

Bring back the lovely cool days ....

25th May 2017 (Drop in Cafe) .... 10.00    Oh dear .... bring back the lovely cool days;   it was 20c in Ivy garden at 09.00.... and I’ve had to “cast a cloot before 'Visitors' on Elie pier. May is oot”, it’s that warm. So far today I have been along to Elie on the bike, photographed the villages  ‘tae bits’ from the harbour, got wakened up, by ‘Jock’, when I was crossing the High Street, bought the papers, then back to Ivy for breakfast, before going along to Sainsbury’s;   I like to get some food stocks in, and the car ‘moored up’ before the weekend.... and this is a holiday weekend so the villages will be busy;   especially if the weather is good.    The messages are ‘away’ and I am now ready for a cuppa. 21.00     It has been ‘bright, sunny and warm’ all day .... at one point it was 23c in Ivy garden;   this is verging on ‘the mauchless’ temperatures.    I have been doing ladder Lifeguard hut now on site or the summer season. work again, and I am, yet agai

24th May 2017 (Wednesday) .... 09.00    Jings I’m feeling’ ‘hyper’ this morning;  it must be that ‘daud’ ...er ...  slice of Waitrose “Golden and Syrupy Treacle Mara Seaweed Harvesters. Tart” that I had with my morning cup o’ coffee.   My word ... that’s the stuff to get the auld muscles fired up!    Jim brought it down last night, but it’s too sweet for him, so I kept it for Jimmy, and me, to have with our morning cuppa in the Hutte ....  we’ll be “tearin’ aboot like heidless chickens aw day”.   (Nothing new there then!) We have a lovely morning here;  I’ve been down on the beach, it’s lovely down there:   with the tide being ‘out’ the Mara Seaweed Harvester’s are working this morning.    It’s a braw morning for gathering seaweed but I don’t suppose they will have much time to admire the scenery:   they have a lot of seaweed to gather  before the tide turns. I have an appointment with the Worcester Service Engineer sometime today so I’m going have to stay ‘in’ until he ha

Manchester Arena terrorist attack ....

Image
23rd May 2017 (Tuesday)....  09.00    The ‘News’ this morning is horrible; E Type Jaguar.    a terrorist attack in that killed 22 and injured a further 59 at the Manchester Arena.    The barbaric attack happened at the end of a concert by Ariana Grande;   innocent young folk enjoying themselves, brutally, and indiscriminately, murdered.         We have a mostly overcast morning, with a brisk South Westerly breeze.    Jimmy wants to go to Leven for a haircut so I’m in ‘flap on’ mode .... the door bell has ‘rung’. 22.30     Understandably, the atrocity in Manchester is the News;  other things have happened, but, ‘terrorism’ is on everyone’s mind today.    Unfortunately there is no Wend surfing lesson. place on ‘Mother Earth’ safe from a warped mind.    My thoughts are with all those who mourn,  those worried about injured loved ones, and all those who were there and will have this terrorist act imprinted on their mind for the rest of their lives.         Jimmy and I wen

Chapel Green explore .....

22nd May 2017 (Monday) .... 09.00    When I was out on the bike this Chapel ruin from Chapel Ness. morning it was pleasantly warm in the early sun .... it should be a really nice day later;   but there are heavy clouds towards the West...and  they could bring showers.    I went for a wander down among the rocks at Chapel Ness and found a braw place to have my morning coffee;   the ‘seating’  (a rock) is harder that I’d like, but the views are superb.    Must ‘go’ ... got things to do today;....  I’ll have another cuppa first! 20.00     We’ve had a nice day.... but we did have a short spell of rain;   a long shower I suppose would be another way to describe it.    Before lunch I had walk down to the seat in front of St Margaret’s, and was ... I suppose ‘falling apart’ would be about right.... browsing the beach activity.    I noticed the rain moving in over Largo Bay, and managed to get back home just as it started.     I had a cuppa, because by that time I had a ‘thundery’ head

Surrounded by gorgeousness ....

21st May 2017 (Sunday)    ....   10.00   Oh my word .... the “Auld Place’s” (Elie and The Royal Burgh of Earlsferry) are looking gorgeous this morning;   it’s Visiting yacht in Elie Harbour. overcast, with sunny spells, but .... och, you have to come and see for yourself, it is just so peaceful and relaxing.    I’ve been out on the bike... only as far as the harbour;   I went out to actually get the paper and milk for my ‘Cornflakes’.... but got diverted.   What I like about our wee villages is... not only are you surrounded by gorgeousness.... ‘you’ are ‘stood staunin’ smack in the middle of it all.    Elie harbour. 21.30    I wouldn’t say that I have overworked today;   but I have enjoyed myself not working:  in fact I am not long back from biking through the Estate, looking for some evening time photos of the loch.   The ‘boathouse’ Swan was feeding close in so I got a few close ups of him.     There was a breeze on the loch so not great for ‘reflections’. I’ve bee

Bad hair day .....

Image
20th May 2017 (Saturday) ....  09.00    Oh my word .... this is not going to be a ‘good hair day’;    it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just raining but it’s “dreich”;   Elie harbour beach. definitely not a good day for being ‘out and about’.... unless wrapped up in a car.   I am looking forward to tea, ‘goodies’, and conversation, at the Coffee Morning;   and to buying some homemade baking.... and books for bed time reading.     Right now I’d better go out and feed ‘Blob and Co’. 21.30     The sun eventually ‘broke through’ at 17.40 and we’ve had a lovely evening;   this was the first time that I have been able to go out on the bike today.   Although it has been mostly dull and wet I have had an enjoyable day:  the Coffee Morning was everything  needed we needed to brighten up a dull and wet morning, ... and had everything I wanted;   tea/ biscuits, good conversation...  gingerbread (the gingerbread is scrumptious -  Jimmy and I have a couple of slices with our afternoon cuppa i

Nice morning ....

19th May 2017 (Friday) .... 10.30     I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning:   I was biking up ‘The Ferry’ High Street (05.50) and met a hare, (a ‘Royal’ The Black wa' ... Earlsferry. hare of course) contemplating nibbling Iain’s flower's ;    when it saw me it poodled its way up to Cadger’s Wynd  and down onto the bents.    I saw the   hare, presumably the same one, about half an hour later up on Chapel Green, making its way back to the golf course. It isn’t as bonnie a ‘day’ as it was yesterday .... there’s a thin layer of cloud making sunshine weaker.    It’s a nice enough day nonetheless. I’ve been out of the bike (early), and managed to do some work on the rhone.    Mike (Kryschuk ?) was passing, saw the problem... went off home and came back with  four galvanised brackets;  they will eliminate the rust problem. 20.30     Having spent a good part of the morning working on the rhone, I was glad when Jimmy turned up;   I needed a rest.    I am slowly begi

Another beautiful morning ....

18th May 2017 (Drop in Cafe Day) .... 08.00    we have a bonnie morning, a mix of clouds and sun just now, but  showers could develop later.    I have a washing West end of Earlsferry. out... so I’m hoping that ‘later’ is after the washing is dry. I’ve been ‘up’ since 05.20... and was up to Chapel Green before 06.00.     There was a bonnie ‘light’ about, the tide was ‘in’ and there was hardly any wind .... perfect conditions for ‘reflection’ photos.   I’ll be up there with the Canon tomorrow morning.... if the weather is agreeable. 20.30     It seems a long time since this morning .... in point of fact it is a long time since I got out of bed;  which is, most likely, why I feel tired.    I have had a ‘productive’ day....  if  detaching weeds from planet Earth could be called ‘productive’.     Tomorrow is ‘broon bucket’ day and it can never go out empty!    I also pruned a flowering currant bush, and found a “foggy toddler’s” (Carder bee) nest;  they are not bothersome insect
