Lovely autumnal morning ....

Image
31st August 2017 (Thursday) .... 08.00    I went out early because it looked like a ‘reflection’ morning, but there’s enough of a breeze to ruffle the water so Kincraig cliffs. nae reflections.    It’s a gorgeous, albeit autumnal, morning nonetheless, and I enjoyed biking up to Chapel Green, .... and, with a bit of luck, the wind might  drop to zero by the time I get back from Leven.       20.30      The wind never dropped to zero, so nae reflection photographs today;   in fact it was quite breezy in the afternoon.... but pleasant.    There were showers over towards Falkland, but they didn’t come our way. I had a happy time in Sainsbury’s... mostly because the list I wrote last night remained where I wrote it... on the computer desk!    This meant I had to browse every aisle;  interesting enough but it could get expensive.   I celebrated this successful mission with a ‘Flat White’ in the Cafe... and a chat with the man at the next table.   I was back in Ivy, with the messag

Excited as a 'bag o' ferrets' .....

30th August 2017 (Wednesday).... 09.00   Oh my word .... I’m as excited as a ‘bag o’ ferrets’... which is probably caused by the fact that we have a ‘bright and The Pyramids of Elie. breezy’ morning... and a cool one;   I had to wear gloves when out on the bike this morning.    It is a nice ‘fresh’ start to the day, which has rubbed orf onto me.      We have the Colinsburgh Lite Lunch today... I’ll be able to catch up ,with all the news from my Colinsburgh ‘girlfriends’.... and the boys.    Right now I’m going to have a walk over the golf course then round Chapel Green.     21.30    I never did walk over the golf course... don’t even remember what diverted me.    Oh ... I do remember . ..... I went down to the beach and nearly fell asleep sitting on “Nana’s seat”;   the sun was up, it was warm, and  peaceful.... by the time I surfaced Jimmy was waiting outside Ivy.   “Blob” is back;  he tends to be shy when he’s moulting, and ‘disappears’ for a few weeks.    This morning

Not warm and sunny....

29th August 2017 (Tuesday) .... 09.00    Oh dearie me .... it’s cauld this mornin’... in fact the place not to be is down at the harbour, ‘cos it’s really cold in the Down among the rocks at Chapel Green. wind.   So where have I been?   Yep ... doon at the harbour.     It’s overcast, windy (good drying wind) and cold though the sun should break through by lunch time.    I’m going to go for a walk in Balcarres den ....out of the wind among the trees.    Must go, ‘slight flap on’... nearly forgot to have breakfast! 29th August 2017 (Tuesday) .... 09.00    Oh dearie me .... it’s cauld this mornin’... in fact the place not to be is down at the harbour, ‘cos it’s really cold in the wind.   So where have I been?   Yep ... doon at the harbour.     It’s overcast, windy (good drying wind) and cold though the sun should break through by lunch time.    I’m going to go for a walk in Balcarres den ....out of the wind among the trees.    Must go, ‘slight flap on’... nearly forgot to h

28th August 2917 (Monday) ...09.00    Mmmmm .... it is overcast, with a really dark and threatening sky towards Glenrothes and points West.    It had better not Kincraig cliffs. rain .... there’s a good, warm, drying wind and I have a washing out. I’ve been up to Chapel Green, by way of biking, and it was hard work going up the hills into the wind.    However, I was rewarded for my effort by finding Captain Latto out at his creels;  I think I got some good ‘shots’ of him near Walker’s rock.    I say ‘think’ because my laptop is ‘working on updates’,  so I’ll leave downloading the photos until the ‘updating’ is complete....  which, according to the ‘blurb’ on the screen, “will take a while”;  it’s at 21%  as I type.     I might go up to Balcarres later (by car) to take a walk round in the shelter of the trees.    2 Capt. Latto at his creels. 0.30    The Windows 10, “working on updates ... will take a while”,  took two hours and 50 minutes:  nothing seems to have changed,

Earlsferry Passage race .....

27th August 2017 (Sunday) ....  08.30   There’s more cloud about this morning, and it feels cooler...  a nice morning for being active.   There should be early, big yacht, activity down at the harbour;   today is the ‘Earlsferry Passage’ race, when the yachts from Elie and Earlsferry, race against the yachts from North Berwick.    Yachts leave both harbours at the same time, sail across the Firth, stop for lunch at the ‘opposition’ Clubhouse then sail back to their home base.   With a good breeze forecast,  there should be some enjoyable sailing. 27th August 2017 (Sunday) ....  08.30   There’s more cloud about this morning, and it feels cooler...  a nice morning for being active.   There should be early, Elie Bay at 10.30. big yacht, activity down at the harbour;   today is the ‘Earlsferry Passage’ race, when the yachts from Elie and Earlsferry, race against the yachts from North Berwick.    Yachts leave both harbours at the same time, sail across the Firth, stop for lunch at t

26th August 2017 (Saturday) .... 08.00    I’ve been ‘fired up’ since dawn cracked this morning, but we’ve got light rain so this has put my perkiness at a peep....however, it looks like it’s going to clear up soon, I see blue sky moving over This morning from the tenth fairway. from the West.     This calls for a quick cuppa, before I  get the bike out.     20.00    Either my arms are shorter or my legs longer!    Why do I think this?.... because it’s getting harder to reach my feet to cut my ‘tae nails’.    But forget my pediatric  skills;  we’ve had a gorgeous summer like day.   If it keeps going like this all the individual, ‘summer like’, days added will give us a three week long summer. The early morning rain didn’t last long and I went out on the bike;  with money in my pocket to go to the RNLI Coffee Morning on the way home.   The ‘plan’ was to photograph my way round Chapel Green, then up to Kinneuchar, and  through the estate to the Coffee Morning.    I did everyth

25th August 2017 (Friday) .... 10.00   There was a light shower when I was out this morning, and it looks like we could have some more rain by the look of the Elie Church Memorial garden. Western sky.... but that won’t last long and we’ll have sunny spells by late afternoon..... maybe.    I intend going out on the bike again so I need ‘sunny spells’.... or at least dry ones.    It looks like I’m going to be baking  sometime today. 21.00    It has been a mixed up weather day ;  we’ve had it all, rain, sunny spells and it has been ‘close’ (humid)... and, my activities today have been as mixed as the weather.   I did some biking, some baking, and some blethering;  Linda and John were out for a walk and stopped to chat on the way past Ivy ... I was in ‘mid bake’ at the time.    As we were talking Jimmy came past... he had aborted his visit to Chris as she was sleeping most of the time.    Linda and John continued with their walk, and I made Jimmy a cuppa.... and a sample Elie Ch

Feeling fresh and frolicsome ....

24th August 2017 (Thursday) .... 09.00     We have a Westerly wind so it’s cool....but a good drying day.   I’m feeling ‘normal me’ ... should I be worried by Kilconquhar Church Tower. that?    I’ve been out on the bike, pruned bits orf the Buddleia bush, and had a cuppa so I’m ready to go out to play ....er do something constructive.   I suppose working pottering around the garden could be counted as exercise;   I think I need a Fit-Bit, so that I know what I am doing re exercise.    Must go .... I’m in the mood to hack real lumps off the Buddleia bush.  20.30      I’ve had a really busy, and enjoyable day;   but I am tired now, and well ready for my bed tonight.    The Buddleia bush is in the ‘broon bucket’, along with a load of other garden clippings, and ....  resulting in a lot more light coming in the computer room window.    That was all done by lunch time.   That reminds me:    I watch Bargain Hunt at lunch time, and, yesterday one of the teams bought a sofa for £212

Intermittent heavy thundery showers .....

23rd August 2017 (Wednesday) ... 07.30    Wellll ... that was what I’d call a proper deluge, at 07.16 ....  it, the rain, started suddenly, lasted for a couple of Elie (08.30) minutes then stopped as suddenly as it had started,  but a lot of water dropped out of the sky in that short time.     The sky is still grey and ominous looking so we could get more of the same.    It is forecast to clear away by midday.    I might chance it, and take a walk down to the beach after breakfast. 20.00    A balmy afternoon more than made up for the overcast morning;   we didn’t have any more rain after that early downpour, though we did get some rain on the way to Leven to do Jimmy’s shopping.    By the time we got back to Elie and Earlsferry the sky was showing signs of breaking up.... though there was the look of thunder towards the Southeast.    I went on to the ‘Live Lightning’ site and lo and behold, there was a big storm bubbling up over the Northeast of England ....  it is still act

Retail therapy morning ....

Image
22nd August 2017 (Tuesday)  .... 08.00    I’d say that this is a perfect ‘retail therapy’ morning;   it’s grey and wet looking.... not actually raining, but the Elie Bay. East wind has brought a bank of cloud in from the North Sea so we could have Scotch Mist:  yes, this definitely calls for evasive action.  Sainsbury’s it is this morning;   and, with a bit of luck, the weather might improve by afternoon, so that I can get out to play work.      11.30    Oh my word ... that was one enjoyable morning of ‘retail therapy’.      I remembered to take the list with me today,....  but that didn’t hamper me one little bit!   The ‘Emergency Ration’ tin is full to the ‘eyeballs’, and, I found new things that I haven’t tried before.   Yes I did enjoy myself in Sainsbury’s:   I had to go up to the Cafe to recover from ‘checking out’.... oh it was my favourite Check out lassie .... I might be ‘in love’ actually.    Earlsferry. Anyway I had a good time... and I remembered to get Cornflak

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness....

Image
21st August 2017 (Monday) .... 09.30    Oh my word .... we have an absolutely stunning morning.... a proper “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” morning.    I went out at 06.50 and got back to Ivy at 08.40.   In between those times I Elie, from Chapel Green... at 07.00. went up to Chapel Green, Elie Estate and Kinneuchar Loch, then down to Elie Harbour;   I was ready for breakfast by the time I got back to Ivy.... but I was happy, and I hadn’t been ‘happy’ when I woke up;   being stressed a bit, thinking about the parking situation in the ‘Royal Burgh’.... a problem that rapidly evaporated when I got going on the bike. The seaweed harvesters were down at Chapel Ness.... you hardly know they are there, because they don’t talk much, presumably in case they disturb the ‘village’;   I wouldn’t make a good seaweed harvester.    There was a bonnie ‘light’ about... with fog coming in, but at that time the sun was shining.    From Chapel Green  I went up to the Loch ....  the  wat

Feeling animated .....

Image
20th August 2017 (Sunday) .... 08.30    We have ‘bright and sunny’ with a nice autumnal North Westerly breeze;  and I’m feeling animated.    I’ve been round Chapel Green.... I’m now having breakfast, one and a half  Shredded Wheat Kinneuchar Loch swan family. with honey and milk, followed by a mug of coffee .... while I wait for the washing machine to finish birlin’ so that I can hang out the washing, before going up to Elie for a paper.    It’s a lovely for spreading love and happiness  around .... and, there’s Teas/Coffee in Kilconquhar Church this afternoon, the very place to find copious amounts of all four.... love happiness, tea and coffee.... plus goodies. 20.30    Oh my word ... didn’t we do well at the Kinneuchar Coffee/Tea afternoon .... three boys (senior variety), and one real boy managed to clear their two tier cake stand... as in nothing left.    We have been missing our ‘goodies’.    The Coffee/Tea afternoon was quiet... which was disappointing;   that said, we h

Bright and breezy ... and so is the weather

19th August 2017 (Saturday) ... 09.00    There’s a frisky Northwest wind this morning.... apart from that wind, and it being cool, it’s a lovely, fresh morning;  The 'Ice Cream' shop at Pittenweem harbour. but really windy, and cauld, down at the harbour.    My immediate ‘plan’ is to make a flask of Coffee, and one of Lemon Tea, so that Jimmy and I can have our morning cuppa on The Boss’s seat;  it, The Boss’s seat, is sheltered from the west wind.    Linda and John have already been up there and left a posy of flowers ;   for the first time I was unable to put a Dunblane Rose on the seat .... because of the wet summer. 20.30     The frisky wind became really frisky round about midday;  this friskiness curtailed my biking plans.   I’d been out on the bike, three times round the villages on special missions,  so I’ve done ‘nae bad’ for exercise.     One of the missions was ‘Morning Coffee’ on the Boss’s Seat;   Jimmy missed that because he was coming down, from Chapel Gr
