Heavy showers ....

6th August 2021 (Friday)    07.30 ....The pollen count is low, thanks to heavy


showers  overnight.... which are forecast to continue for most of the day....however, I can see patches of ‘bloo’ in the sky, so it will bonnie, in between any showers than come our way so I might have a daunder to the beach later.... but it will be, mostly, a compute/TV day for us.    The clocks on the cooker and microwave were blinking this morning so we’ve had a power cut overnight , but we haven’t had any lightning strikes near us, so lightning wasn’t the cause.  



15.30    We’ve been lucky;  the showers have missed us so far, and we’ve had better day than was forecast:  having said that, I see that there’s a thunderstorm just off Musselburgh, with lightning.... so rain is still around.

I went up to Chapel Green on the bike but discovered that I’d forgotten to charge the bike battery, so I didn’t get up to Elie.    It should be a better day tomorrow.  


21.30     We (Janice Michael and me) have all been busy and the day has passed quickly.... so quickly that I thought it was Saturday.    The evening has brought a few showers, but no thunder claps though there has been thunder around but well out of our range (so far): Too far away to be heard.

I have been working on the blog ‘Chainwalk page’; inserting photographs and that sort of thing.   I read it through now and again and change the wording here and there, but it is more or less the same as when I first wrote it 20 years ago.

Tomorrow looks like being a brighter day .... but light showers are mentioned in the forecast.   I’ve been mixed up all day thinking this was Saturday, and that Neil  and Ken were doing their run tomorrow (which I thought was Sunday).   As the days comes to an end I have finally come to accept that this has been Friday all along!

Nae ‘plan’ for tomorrow;   the ‘Troops are going to the Ship Inn for ‘romantic’ lunch;  I


was supposed to go but couldn’t think of a place to safely park my bike;  walking is painful just now as I twisted my bad knee the other day.    Taking the car down in the middle of the day is not a good idea.   The three of us are going to the 19th for lunch on Monday.... I can manage that comfortably.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
