Cool and overcast ....

25th March 2024 (Monday)     08.30 .... It's cold and grey but at least it's not raining ... but


precipitation is mentioned in today's weather forecast.   In fact 'heavy rain' is expected on a brisk Easterly wind;  I'm thinkin' it's not going to be a play day... but I'm expecting 'sunny spells' before the rain arrives.  I'm visiting Alice and might do some shopping;  got to stock up before the Easter holidays.

18.30   Alice and I went to Sainsbury's to do a small shopping... and handed our watches in to have the batteries replaces at another shop.   By this time the weather had deteriorated:  the precipitation mentioned in the forecast had arrived.... and has been with us ever since.  We headed back to Alice's where Alice set about making lunch while I admired the my birthday present; and browsed a book by Alice's son in law Alex Crawford, about the Flying Flatiron Gloster Javelin.... the UK's frontline fighter plane from 1956 through to1968.   They were a common sight around the East Neuk skies flying out of Leuchars for a number of years.   I'll take photos tomorrow.......today has not been a 'camera' day.


We had a cup of coffee before I set off for home.... on roads that were seriously wet.    That reminds me:  the Balchrystie part of the recent road closure is having work done, near the Electricity Sub Station (about quarter of a mile south the junction with the A915 (Balchrystie).   There's man made pot hole without any marker cones;  that was at 13.30 so hopefully it will have been fixed by now.   I don't understand why that part of the road wasn't repaired during the long closure;  it had been in need of patching long before the closure.


22.30   I've had a busy and enjoyable day;  spoiled only by having a migraine not long after I arrived back at Ivy.   Funnily enough I remember thinking, at breakfast time, that this felt like being a migraine day.  I think tomorrow's weather is a bit mixed up and includes light rain, so I haven't  anything planned.... but I hope it isn't a migraine day!   I have a picture to hang and writing to do in the morrrrrrning;  I might go out in the car in the afternoon if the weather is reasonable.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
