27th October 2020 (Tuesday)   08.30 .... what an absolute cracker o’


a mornin’;  one of those quiet peaceful mornings when even the birds were calm and quiet.   

I’m going to Leven to get the stuff I need to finish the fireplace job;  when that jobs done I can get back to sorting out the postcards.

14.00    The Leven mission went to ‘plan’ and I came home with everything I went for;   and no goodies.   The paint was a rip off ..... £20 for 0.75 litre;  the shelf above had the exact same tin (Black) at £22.59 so it pays to ‘shop around’ .... even in one shop.    It’s a bonnie tin.   The brakes will totally come off ROB (Rip Off Britain) after the 1st January.

I went down to Leven Prom to take  few photos;  a lot of folks were out walking their dogs.... little dogs mostly.   I asked one lady why so many little dogs and she said;  “because the people with the big dogs are out earlier, little dogs are taken out later, and can enjoy their time on the beach without fear of being attacked!”


It was sad being so close to the ‘Jimbo Residence’ and not being able to visit.    It’s highly likely that I (and other non family) won’t be allowed to visit  friends until there’s vaccine.

I have everything required to finish the fireplace now... that will be the mission tomorrow;  today has been a ‘rest’ day.

19.00    I’ve had a lazy(ish) day;  though I am pleased with the shopping this morning.    I did a wee bit of ‘work’ in the afternoon, but I think that yesterday’s effort caught up with me.... I fell asleep in the middle of solving a


Midsomer murder.     Now I feel bright eyed and bushy tailed, and in the mood for doing some research.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
