Windy, wet and cold ....


13th June 2019 (Thursday) .... 08.00    I had a ‘sleep in’ this morning ....
Wet morning.
decided to stay in bed until 07.00 because of the inclement weather:  We have ‘wet, windy and cold’ this morning.    Now I’m thinkin’ that I should have stopped in bed until 08.00.    I’ll do some ‘ousework, and browse a few more postcards.    The wind is forecast to back to the west,....  and the rain to peter out later in the day.  

11.00    The sky is beginning to brighten up a bit.... but it is still raining, albeit not very heavily.    It looks like we could get a few sunny spells in the late afternoon.    I’ve done some ‘ousework;  .... a bit of light ‘ooverin’ and dustin’.     Iain (Auchnagatt) is stopping over tonight so I thought I’d best make some small effort.    I have loads of food etc so that is all taken care of.   All this ‘ousewifely activity means that I haven’t been out.... welll not beyond the front gate.
20.00     Well it has been a dull old day... and a wet one.   Iain arrived round about 16.30. having driven through rain all the way from Aberdeen.     We had a cuppa and he then sorted out all the things that needed to be sorted re my computer etc.    The laptop is working, the desktop computer is connected to the web ..... and I am a happy bunny.

The weather for tomorrow is going to be better.... we could have a few sunny spells even.    When you think about it in another 8 days it will be the summer solstice, after which it is all ‘downhill’ to winter.   Winter? .... we’ve still to have our summer.


Iain and I had intended going down to the beach but it was raining..... again.   So that was cancelled.    I’ll go down tomorrow sometime.  In fact, I don’t have anything planned for tomorrow so if the weather is Okay in the afternoon I’ll go out on the bike.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
