My word .... wall to wall blue sky ... and warm

12th May 2019 (Sunday) ....  08.30     What an absolutely stunner of a

morning;   ‘wall to wall’ bloo sky, with only a light breeze, therefore warm.    A perfect day for going out on the bike, and learning how to control the speed:   as it is, I move ‘fast’.... which is fine, out on the open road, but not in the villages.
I’ve been for the paper (in the car) all we need now is breakfast and we’ll be ready to go.    The planned route is up, and through Elie Estate, on to Kinneuchar, Robin Gray’s, Colinsburgh then home via Kinneuchar.

19.30   The morning outing on the e-bikes went brilliantly... and ended up being ‘iggzactly’ 12 kilometres (7.45 miles) long;  that includes walking as far as the kettle,

to switch it ‘on’.  There’s no doubt an e-bike will extend my frolic range back to where it was five years ago – hills and the wind are no longer obstacles.     The great thing is that you burn off calories on an e-bike, because, although you do pedal, .... the bike does the hard work.   This is my kind of biking.

We connected the bikes to their chargers;  the intention being to go out again;  later in the afternoon, and after we’d been to Halfords in Kirkcaldy for a browse, and to buy some security device to lock up the bikes when ‘frolicking’ off the bike.    We also looked at bike mirrors but the choice was very limited.

Our late afternoon run took to Colinsburgh and up to Balcarres ... as far as the first

white gate.   The drains that cut across the Double Dykes road are a nuisance for e-bikes;  you have to stop pedalling when you get to them, and lose momentum.    I’m sure that this is a small problem.... that will be easily resolved.    On leaving Balcarres we came home via Kinneuchar, the Balbuthie road then into Elie from the east end.... a total distance of just over 16 ‘klomiters’ or 10.2 miles.    Altogether we have biked just under 17 miles today.   On the Balbuthie part of the run we were totally exposed to the brisk southeast wind, but the bikes coped with that  ‘nae bother’.   All I have to do now is go online and order a bike.

The weather forecast for the ‘KY9’ area is excellent;  we may have to use the sun-cream again.... it is to be ‘sunny and warm’.    We might have an onshore breeze to keep us cool.
I’m tired tonight after all the biking today.   Unfortunately it’s back to the ordinary, non electric, bike tomorrow.
