Wintry feel to the air ....

6th May 2021 (Thursday)     07.00....Hmmmmm .... there’s a yellow warning for


snow, to low levels, for the Central belt this morning, so I imagine we shall have showers of ‘something’.   The thermometer is at 4C so it’s not frosty but there’s a Northerly wind, so, taking wind-chill into account, the air feels about -2C.   Although wintry feeling it’s not all ‘bad’;  we should  have some lovely clouds bubbling up later.

 09.30    Having checked the weather forecast I have decided to go out on the bike..... if the sky isn’t too threatening.   The ‘plan’ is to go through the Estate, where the trees give some shelter from the cool breeze, then do the usual village tour.    When I’m get back to Ivy  I am going to make a batch of ‘Cottage Pies’;  a warm job:  after I have a  cuppa.  


13.00    I did the Estate/harbour/ villages tour, but had to speed up at the end to get back to Ivy,  before one of the showers that are around.   It was an enjoyable scamper, but it was cool:  lovely in the sunny, sheltered spots.

I’m going to have an ‘afternoon coffee’, followed probably by short catnap in The Hutte, before making the Cottage Pies.




21.00    KY9 is going to have, ‘hail showers with a gentle breeze’ tomorrow;  a quieter day than today, could even feel warm.    I am satisfied after at the end of reasonably busy and satisfying day.   I go back to six monthly PSA check –ups as the latest test showed that it had gone down by 4 points, from 12.5 to 8.5.   I shall take a three week break from biking before the next test;  I want to see if I can get it (PSA) down to 5.

It looks like being a calm morning tomorrow so I’ll bike along to the ‘paper shop’, later


in the morning because I also need to go to the Chemist.   Nae ‘plan’ for tomorrow;  I have to stay around Ivy in case the sketch pads are delivered, I have a tracking Number but Parcel Force are so busy just now that they only tell you after they have tried to make a delivery.... I can’t ‘track’ the parcel en route.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
