Cauld wind ....

23rd March 2021 (Tuesday)      08.30 .... typing today’s date reminded me that


it’s my birthday today:  I am maturing blissfully.    

It’s bitterly cold this morning;  the sky is overcast and there’s a brisk wind.... not a morning for the bike.  I must wrap up and have a walk on the beach, once (if) the sun breaks through;  I’m feeling creative so most of ‘the day’ will be spent  .... well ... being creative and drinking cuppas.   I had intended having coffee up at Chapel Green but it’s far too cold and windy for that just now: hopefully it will be warmer in the afternoon.    It’s time for breakfast.... followed by an, earlier than usual, Cappuccino this morning.

16.00    When I got out of bed this morning I was feeling frisky and even thinking of starting a diet (just a little diet):  however the diet bit is on hold, for a series of tomorrows, because I have birthday presents to enjoy, some by way of nibbling (which I am good at) and others by way of reading or planting and growing (which I going to be good at).   A huge “Thank You” for your kind wishes, presents and virtual (((((hugs))))).   I am a lucky boy and love you all.


Creative?..... I didn’t do much, but what I have done was tricky and important so I am well satisfied;  and the day is (like me) young, so more creative stuff may yet be created.    I think I deserve a cuppa..... having been neglectful on the ‘Cuppa Front’ today.







21.00    This has been a day of pleasant surprises;   it certainly has been a ‘happy birthday.   It’s a pity the weather hadn’t been warmer but at least it was dry.   Having said that .... I had to go out to the car and we’ve had a shower of rain.   I think that tomorrow is going to be breezy again but also sunnier.... and cold, so it’s unlikely that I’ll go anywhere on the bike. I’ll do creative stuff, in the Hutte if the sun is shining:  the Hutte warms up rapidly when it’s sunny.   There’s still a bit of tidying up to do in the Hutte but that shouldn’t take long;  as long as I don’t find stuff to browse.

birthday’.  Thank you for the cards, gifts and all the good wishes messages on my Facebook page.   Take care and I repeat ....  ‘I love you all’.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
