Clearing sky ....

12th August 2020 (Wednesday)    06.30 ....  there’s  thunder rattling around

'Blue Tits' Swimming Club.

the West of Fife and up the East Coast from Crail to Aberdeen just now.    We are surrounded by dark, ominous looking skies, but .... it is not raining, though has it been overnight:  The  storms were with us for a few hours overnight but not overhead.... and are forecast to fade out in the morning.     There is much damage across Fife with caravans (mobile homes) being evacuated along at Kinghorn due to mud slides.etc.

10.00    When I went out on the bike this morning I could see lightning over by Glenrothes, and some of the rumbles were loud;  but the general movement of the thunder was Northeast so I did my normal ‘paper run’.  The storms are moving into the North Sea off Fraserburgh now.    We have a lovely, warm and sunny, morning;   it looks like being a really nice day.  The Scottish schools go  back today but I imagine the beach will be busy

with holiday makers from England .... and other places.   I met a lady from the London area this morning enjoying an early morning walk with her wee dog.... a Pug;  it has been an enjoyable morning.

16.30    It’s 22c in Ivy garden (in the shade) just now ..... nice for the young folk but uncomfortable for this ‘slightly older than young’ person.      Myra, Geoff and ‘The Boy’ (that’s ‘me’) had our morning coffee at Chapel Green (Maggie’s seat);  it was a real nice break.   At that time the temperature was perfect.... and   Chapel Green was busy, as was the beach.   I might go out on the bike in the evening;  once the air is cooler.

19.00    Not only have we had a beautiful day, Alan (‘arbour ‘ouse) appeared bearing gifts; two cheese scones made by the fair hands of Brenda.    So this has been a good day.     Sadly it hasn’t been a good day everywhere;  the storms of last night and this morning caused mayhem in parts of Scotland, with three people dying in a train accident near Stonehaven, flooding in parts of Fife, and people having to be evacuated from their

mobile homes (also in Fife).     My heart goes out to the families of those affected by the storms.... we have been very lucky in the East Neuk, with the worst of the weather bypassing us.

21.00    ‘Sunny Sussex’ and the Southeast is still in the grip of the heatwave;   I couldn’t cope with the temperatures they have had.    Michael and Janice have a hot tub and they don’t even have to heat the water in it.... so it’s being used as a ‘cool tub’ just now.     We are going to have another nice day tomorrow;   not as hot as it was today,.....  comfortably warm rather than hot!
