Really quiet morning ....

16th October 2023 (Wednesday)    10.00 .... I was thinkin’ “wall to wall”

Edinburgh in early morning sunlight.

blue sky when I got up this morrrrrrrrning;  and was disappointed to find a “wall to wall” grey sky instead.  However, Edinburgh was bathed in early morning sunshine and looking much nearer than it actually is, so I managed to get a reasonably clear photo of Edinburgh Castle.     The weather forecast is not bad for KY9;  “light rain showers and a moderate breeze”.... with the grey sky breaking up by midday.

The paper has been uplifted and I visited the harbour;  everything seems hushed this morning, even the Redshanks were piping quietly!

11.30   I had to bike up to the ‘hole in the wall’ to get some cash (not something I use much of nowadays) and discovered that 10.30 (ish) is a reasonably quiet time on the roads.   I came home by way of the A917 to St Ford the down the Ferry Road, stopping at the Pony Field to get some photos of the view.


Kirsty, Myra and ‘the boy’ (alias The Team) are going to the 19th for lunch today;  that saves me having to bother about food and also means that I can have a ‘fish supper’ lunch!   I’m a ‘happy boy’!


21.00  We (the girls and me) enjoyed lunch at the 19th;  good company, with good food as always.   The 19th was busier than I expected it to be on a Wednesday;  but, although the Scottish schools went back today, the English schools are still on holiday so we have plenty of holiday makers around.   There’s no doubt that the East Neuk is a popular holiday destination; that said the weather has been a bit of a letdown for the past few weeks.  Today has been pleasant; warm but not too hot.   Tomorrow is going to be sunny and warm after the early morning cloud evaporates.

I’ll go out on the bike first thing to get the paper; then, after breakfast, I’m going to


Methil to annoy Alice, and do some shopping for the weekend.   At the moment Sunday looks like being the next really good day for biking.   The 'plan' is to do Balcarres Estate soon.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
