Cloudy and cool ....

11th June 2023 (Sunday)  06.45 .... The sky is heavily overcast and there’s a

chilly wind from the NNE with the feel of rain in it.   The weather forecast is good  .....’sunny intervals and a gentle breeze’, and the Yellow warning for thundery showers remains, though it applies mostly to the west of Scotland but does include the west of Fife.  (Lochgelly has had 2mm of rain this morning).    London and the southeast could get temperatures up to 30C today;  K9 up to 18C.   I’m having a cuppa before I go for the paper.  

08.30    We’ve had some much needed light rain, but we need a lot more to make up for the lack of rain over the past few months.   I went for the paper (Sunday Post) in the car ... and down to the harbour.  There's a few wild camping tents out by the lighthouse;  not the warmest place to be on a morning such as this.   It’s actually quite chilly out... and damp, so a working day for this boy.... after breakfast.

17.15   The rain I mentioned earlier was the only rain we’ve had so far today.   The thunder storms have been moving up the West coast ....I didn’t even see the clouds.   The sun broke through at lunchtime and we’ve had a lovely afternoon; the temperature was at 20C for a time.... pleasantly warm.  

When it was dull (and cool) in the morning I did some gardening .... the broon bucket has space left for a couple of kitchen caddy bags and that’s about it. I got the pencils out in the afternoon.

20.30   Fife did get some rain today.... Lochgelly had 7.2mm.  even that isn’t enough to do much good to the dry ground.   That said, it’s better than the miniscule amount (of rain) we had this morning. 

The ‘plan’ for tomorrow is to bike up to Balcarres Estate;  the weather forecast is good,

but it could be hot in the afternoon.   If I do decide to ‘go’ it will be in the morning and an up the Double Dykes and back sort o’ trip.   This will be the longest trip on the bike since I had COVID and I am slightly apprehensive.   I always have plenty water and fruit with me.... and I’ll charge up the phone tonight.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
