16th June 2023 (Friday)    08.45..... It’s another lovely morning .... it’s already

Ye Gods ... it will soon be harvest time!

warm and sunny, with  a hot afternoon to come.    On hot days the onshore breeze  is welcome;  the pollution from the continent isn’t.   Myra and I are going to Dorothy’s (Mennie) for morning coffee so I haven’t been ‘out and about’ yet.   I might try for the beach after this update.





16.30   I’ve just woken up after a long siesta; and I actually I feel quite playful now.   As planned Myra and I went to Dorothy’s for morning coffee and had a good old catch up with each other’s, and local, news.  After an enjoyable hour and a bit of chatting (and sipping coffee) we have decided to meet up once a month to keep in touch.  Face to face ‘keeping in touch’ conversations are very important, especially in the COVID aftermath... and especially so for ....er ... not so young folks.


The ‘warm and sunny morning’ morphed into a hot and sunny afternoon, as has happened for the past few days;  and I go into rest mode as has happened for the past few days.   I am beginning to liven up now that the wind had freshened and the air has cooled.   Pollution levels are at ‘M’ (Medium).









19.38   What is it with Boris and Donald (Trump) that makes them think the world can’t operate without them?   When I was young (a few years ago now) I thought of politicians as important and respectable people.... alongside Doctors, Teachers, Nurses, Policemen etc:  now I don’t.   Sadly the impression I have now is that most of them (politicians) are just people having a good time at the taxpayers’ expense.   In fact one Conservative  (I forget who it was) commented today that they hoped Boris would use his (new) column in the Daily Mail to benefit the ‘Conservative Party and the country’.   And that says it all about the present brand of Conservative MPs:  they’re in power to benefit “Party, self, investors, friends (not necessarily in that order) ... and ... oh , I’m sure there’s

something else? ... oh ....country”.   Oh... apologies to anyone who I might have upset.... but I feel better!   We need politicians who think “Planet, People and Future”.... not the self self self of Party politics.   We’ll just have to put up with (and not listen to) the Boris’s and Donald’s of the world.  Oops.... ‘Blob’ (robin) is looking for food!   I’m a happy boy again.



22.00   This has been another bonnie day....even I am enjoying the sunny weather in spite of the hot afternoons; and I can be active before and after the ‘heat of the day’.   Tomorrow is forecast to be another warm and sunny day.... though perhaps a little bit cooler than it was today.   I might get up early and take a longer turn round the villages on the bike....to see how the gears are working:  right now it’s time for bed after a happy and enjoyable day.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
