Snow showers ....

8th December 2022 (Thursday)    08.30. ....I was going down to the beach


but a snow shower came over ..... so I put the kettle ‘on’.   The snow didn’t last long but cameras don’t like snow.   I’ll either go for a run in the car, once the sun breaks through,  or go to the beach if the snow showers aren’t too bothersome.   The showers are forecast to peter out by 10.23.... morrrrrrrrning coffee’ time.



17.15    I’ve enjoyed a lazy day;  mostly because it has been too cold to go out.... except in the car.   I fell asleep watching the tele and missed the ‘Drop In Cafe’;  and I’d been looking forward to that.    Myra phoned (from Edinburgh) and told me that she has injured her knee:  and this is her birthday.   I’m not sure of the actual date but it is this week sometime so....“Happy Birthday Myra”.;  enjoy your time with  ‘the troops’.

At the moment it looks like being a cold night;  there’s frost on top of the car already.  ‘Blob’ has been fed at regular intervals today;  I must remember to break the ice on the water trough for him tomorrow morning..... if we do have a frosty night.   I’m having a migraine as I type  so that will take care of my activities for the evening;  most of the evening will be spent writing Christmas cards;  and watching something on the tele.   I’m not keen on this cold weather.


21.30    There seems to be a bit of mist coming in, and it isn’t frosty at the moment;  that said it isn’t warm either.   I found all that out when I went out to close the gate.   Tomorrow I must try to get ‘fired up’ and do some ‘work’ things.    The stamps I ordered from Royal Mail were delivered today;  and the SSAFA Christmas cards were despatched a couple of days ago so they should arrive tomorrow.   It will be all go after that.

The  Yellow warning (snow and ice) applying to Fife, has been extended until Sunday at


midday;  that means it’s going to be cold.   This does not have me loupin’ aboot wi’  joy.  

With the weather being as it is I have ‘nae plan’ for tomorrow other than go for the paper.   I hope to feel mair active than I have done today.   I’m orf to make a hot chocolate ... no ... change of plan... a Janice toddie before bedtime.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
