Heavy showers rain/sleet....

10th December 2022 (Saturday)     08.17 .... ‘Heavy snow showers and a


gentle breeze’ is the weather forecast for KY9 today;  and we’ve just had a heavy shower o’ rain/sleet so it is dreich.   We should have some bonnie clouds around;  however I  won’t be going to the beach  for sunrise time because it’s spitting rain again.   I switched the kettle on a wee while ago so I'll have a fresh cup o' tea.

14.00    My Christmas has begun;  this morning I put up the strings that I hang my Christmas cards on;  and, after a cuppa, I will begin writing my Christmas cards.    The ones I ordered from SSAFA haven’t arrived yet so I’m going to use the ones I bought in January, and hope that the SSAFA ones are delivered in time for this Christmas.   I guess it all depends on the postal strike(s).


I am really chuffed with putting up the strings for the cards ;  it meant using step ladders and I was able to do that.   That’s the first time I’ve been to the second top step of said ladders since I had COVID.   I’m a happy boy.

The weather has been a bit unsettled so I’m unlikely to go out again today;  unless I have a walk up to the golf course at sunset time, if it looks like we’re going to have a visible sunset.   Right now I feel in need of a catnap... after the aforementioned cuppa.

19.38   We had a couple of heavy (and annoying) sleet and hail showers in the afternoon and they helped me make up my mind  to forget about going to the beach.   The sky looked interesting but I decided that someone else was bound to see and that a photo, of it.   Anyway I was in the mood to get started on the Christmas cards... with a warm cuppa to lubricate the  brain.   I haven’t made much progress but have at unearthed the Christmas cards I bought in January.   Sunday’s weather forecast for KY 9 is .... 10 minute delay.... is... ‘sunny with a gentle breeze’ ....but it isn’t going to be warm.    Thinking of warm reminds me that I won’t know how I’m doing with the cost of energy until I send a reading on the 2nd January.    I will have been with OVO three months


then and they will be able to advise and adjust after that date.   It’s a worrisome time for everyone.

There’s nothing on the tele tonight so I’m going to have browse through my Archive.   ‘Strictly’ has been moved to Sunday for some reason.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
