Lovely morning ....

3rd October 2021 (Sunday)    08.00 ..... beautiful morning here

Turbine No1 from turbine No 2.

(Auchnagatt);   a blue sky with a few clouds towards the north .... and only a light breeze, though the wind if forecast to freshen by midday and there’s a chance of showers in the afternoon.   At the moment there’s only ‘Sooper Cat MK II’ and me on the move.... and he keeps reappearing from cat missions.   I think there’s only one cat.... though it looks like there could be three or four.    The kettle will be boiling so I’ll have a cuppa and breakfast.

09.30     The ‘plan’ is to bike up to the wind turbines this morning, then go to Pitmedden gardens in the afternoon.    I’m looking forward to being close up with turbines and with flowers .... engineering and nature:  a different mix of photographs to play with this evening.

Where the top and bottom bits join.

12.30     We got the bikes out after breakfast and went up to the Skilmafilly Hill wind turbines.   As the crow flies the turbines are about a mile away... probably two by road:  there was a frisky wind at the top of the hill.   We stopped at turbine No 1 to have a look around then went to No 2 where the viewpoint is, and  close up photos.    The blades make a noise , but it’s not very noticeable .... even standing underneath them.   It was windy, and cold, at the top of the hill so we didn’t hang around too long;  but it would be well worth going up there on a quieter day to take a lot more photographs from the viewpoint.... and from the road we travelled.   Jackie and I did the full circle, Iain went back the way we came to put the kettle on.

21.30    After lunch we went (in the car) to Pitmedden Garden:   the original garden was

Pitmedden Garden.

created for Sir Alexander Seton in the 1650’s, but became a kitchen garden in the 1850’s and was ploughed up, to grow vegetables, at the beginning of  WWII.    It was handed to the National Trust in 1952, and they decided to recreate an ornamental garden which is what we have now;  and it looks, and feels much older than it actually is.    We spent a relaxing hour and a half bumbling round.... and I am a tired boy tonight.   Another cuppa and it will be bedtime.
