Overcast but dry .....

5th October 2021 (Tuesday)   08.00 .... the Auchnagatt sky is overcast , with

Gardenstown harbour.

only a light breeze just now;   it is forecast to brighten later in  the morning, .... with  an increasing chance of rain showers in the afternoon
.    Ian and I are going to Kintore to visit Jimmy;  I’m looking forward to seeing Jimmy again, but, without Mabel, there will be sadness too.

19.00     It was good seeing, and chatting to Jimmy again;  and he is looking well considering the trauma he has just gone through..   Losing the girl you have loved , and spent a lifetime with, is devastating.    However Mabel, like Maggie, will always be around in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.    Memories, family and friends are invaluable at this time of readjustment to a new way of living;  and Jimmy has family and friends and memories galore.   Growing old is easy.... it’s coping with heartbreaks that is the hard bit.   Iain and I enjoyed our chat, (and Val’s sandwiches) before making our way back to Backhill of Inkhorn (Auchnagatt) on what was a grey morning.
Formartine's coffee stop;  sadly now closed.

The weather has deteriorated since and we have had heavy rain almost all afternoon.   I say almost, because I fell asleep on top of my bed and didn’t see the weather for that hour and half;  the sun might have been shining!   Though I don’t think it was.

20.00    We have a ‘plan’ for tomorrow.  Jackie and I bike down the cycleway from Arnage to Newmachar, about 16 miles);  as the distance will be near the limit of the bike battery, Iain is travelling to Newmachar in the car, to pick us up.   The rain, that we’ve have had a lot of, is moving away, leaving us with a frisky wind, which should dry up any water on the Way.   At least we hope it does.   Being a former railway line there won’t be any braes to climb.... not steep ones anyway.

This has been a day of mixed emotions; I was happy seeing Jimmy being, and looking

A quiet 'back road'.

positive.... but the weather was a bit of a downer.
