China cabinet ....

 

26th November 2020 (Thursday)     10.00 .... It’s done!..... the china

West Shore - Pittenweem.

cabinet has been emptied, everything washed, and put back (maybe not ‘iggzactly’ as it was)  .... now I can begin to relax.   The bookshelves are still to do but I enjoy doing them;  they take a long time.

We have a lovely morning.... at the moment the sky is overcast (the sun is working on that problem) and there’s very little wind ... so a really nice morrrrrrrrrrrning for doing things in the garden.... and going out to ‘play’.    I’m going to9 have a cuppa before going for the paper and morning coffee.   ‘Slight flap on’!

21.00     As planned I went for the paper, and ‘morning coffee’ from ‘arbour ‘ouse eventually... I  had to go back to Ivy to get mu coffee mug (it keeps the coffee hot).     However I managed to get myself organised and went to Pittenweem Braes.   I knew the tide was in and that there was only a light breeze, so there was a good chance that West Shore would be reflected in the water.   It was.... and I was happy;  it was really enjoyable way to celebrate finishing the cabinet.

There was other ‘non china’ stuff in the china cabinet:  a box with four 12th scale long nose golf clubs ... a driver, brassie (with brass sole) a putter and a mashie;  , and a photo that I got from Ethel (cousin) of  Mum and Dad’s wedding group.      Once I’d washed the crystal and china, cleaning the cabinet became a more interesting job.  

I never went out in the afternoon;  by the time I’d ‘played’ with the mornings batch of photographs and browsed my way through the interesting stuff in the cabinet it was beginning to get dark.

The new tier levels in England have raised a few hackles;  do the folk that live there not realise that it’s ‘self inflicted’.   Do those people, in areas now classed as Tier 3;   the ones with the 'couldn't care less attitude' spread the virus....  and now everyone in the area has now to suffer Tier 3 because of selfish behaviour.?

Tomorrow is going to be another quiet day with light winds but cloudier.... and not that warm.   I’m having a rest day tomorrow.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
