Sunny and warm ....

14th August 2024 (Wednesday)   10.00 .... we have a lovely, sunny and warm, day;  I might have a

wander up to the golf course after morrrrrrning coffee.    I went up to Kinneuchar to get a few photos of 'The Paddocks' housing development at Colinsburgh, but there is a heat haze... so no useable photographs.   I'll have another go in the late afternoon.   I might have a short walk .... after morning coffee.

21.00    I have been busy today;   that doesn't mean that I have done very much, because it takes me longer to do stuff now.  In fact all I did was two washings (got to do small washings until I get the garden back), made a batch o' Cottage Pies, and chatted to Kirsty when she came round with a book.  That might not look like a lot o' work, but it made me happy.   I didn't go out in the afternoon;  after Kirsty set off home I lay down on top of the bed for a catnap.... only for 35 minutes!

'M' from New Zealand managed to get through tonight;  Skype is a bit of a hit or miss nowadays, bur we occasionally catch up.   New Zealand is coming into Spring so they're getting  decent weather already.   That said I'm not complaining about todays weather in Bonnie Scotland;  bur we do need  a week or two of days like today.... not just the odd day. Tomorrow is going to be wet so I'll do the ironing!


I like the bit patio I've got but it would make me happy to see it finished: I 'lost' the garden two years ago, and it's beginning to 'bug' me.   The Architect should be able to push thing on .... when she eventually comes to visit.  I miss the workmen, they are a friendly bunch.... but I'd appreciate them coming back to really cheer me up!   As far as Julie and Chris (Ferry Lodge) are concerned, the 'Ferry Lodge' work is unfinished until my garden has been reinstated.  They were shocked when they saw the mess it is in.   The two photographs don't show everything.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
