Bright and breezy .....

25th August 2024 (Sunday)    09.45 .... It's bright and breezy and a good drying day just now. 


 Showers are  forecast to arrive in the early afternoon.    I've been for the paper.... and visited the harbour (not the warmest place to be) then home by Kinneuchar.   Since then I have hung out a washing.... which I hope the wind will dry by midday!   Tomorrow is a better forecast for doing the downie cover and big sheets.   

I'm thinkin' a mug o' coffee would be a good idea;  that, and a look through the Sunday Post.


19.45    The light rain we had in the afternoon has moved away  and we have a lovely evening.    I've had a semi productive day;  the washing I hung out dried and has been ironed.... and I did a wee housework.   I watched Great Expectations in between doing the ironing and stuff.   So it could be said that I've had a 'quiet, stress free day'!    Quiet yes.... stress free ...no!    A bird cra .... pooed on the new hand rail.   Luckily the rain came and washed it off.... but birds are no respecters of new handrails.   I am not pleased.   

We have a good weather forecast for tomorrow so I intend washing the double bed bedding.... beginning with the downie cover;  it's huge.    In fact I'll wash it tonight and hang it out first thing in the morning.  If it's a decent drying day it should dry quickly, allowing me to get the sheets done too!   I'm a 'happy boy'.   It used to take more than a good drying day to make me happy!   Good drying days made Maggie happy!   Anyway.... 'sunny intervals with a moderate breeze is the forecast' for Monday.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
