Light rain ....

15th August 2024 (Thursday)    09.30 .... Although overcast with light rain it's actually a nice,


quiet kind of morning;  I'd enjoy going for a daunder to the beach on a morning like this.   I imagine even the Herring gulls will be at peace with each other;  well maybe not.   Anyway the rain is going to move away to give us a bright and sunny afternoon.   

I slept 'in' this morning, and I'm feeling all the better for it;  I wouldn't say I was 'playful' but I'm getting that way.   Iain Jackie, Hazel and Catriona are coming down tomorrow and we're going out for lunch to celebrate Catriona's graduation, Glasgow University (1st Hon).   That reminds me;  I'd better do the ironing.

12.30    I've been for the paper(s);  got money from the cash machine, with much help from Aileen (Burns).... calmed down with a run home by way of Kinneuchar.   If anyone sees Aileen please thank her for me.... I'm sure I forgot to do so at the time.  Me being me I was in 'big Flap On State'!

The sky is beginning to break up ...bring on the sunshine.

20.00    It has been a mixed u old day as far as the weather went;  but the rain finally moved away in the afternoon and we now have a sunny but cool evening.    I've had a busy day;  Kenny and Gerry came after lunch, Kenny to update me about the meeting with Architect, and Gerry to let me know that the garden would be reinstated as promised, and finished next week.   So it has been an eventful day and I'm happy now that it has all been sorted out... and look forward to seeing it all 'done and dusted'.   


With all that excitement going on I didn't do anything in the afternoon.... apart from hang out a washing, which should dry tomorrow.   I'm a happy boy and should sleep well tonight (I usually do).   I can now look forward to Catriona's  Graduation Lunch tomorrow.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
