Cool breeze off the water ....

9th April 2023 (Sunday)   08.30.... I began my Easter Sunday by sleeping


‘in'.....at the end of an unbroken night’s sleep.  The intention is to have a ‘rest day’;  the last two planned ‘rest days’ ended up full of enjoyable surprises.     We have a bonnie, and bright, start to Easter Sunday but there is a cool breeze off the North Sea.... and haar could blow in later.   I might go for the paper after this update....before the streets are busy.... and another cuppa.  



19.30    The street was busy when I went for the paper so I came home by way of the Elie Estate: when I was doing this Janice and Michael were at ‘The Store’ in Anstruther.   We all arrived back at Ivy about the same time.  Because the streets were busy I didn’t go down to the harbour, but the beach was busy for that time of day;  the tide was out so there was a big beach;  and Darren (Peattie) was going out to gather seaweed (they use a quad bike).


Emily, John and ‘JB’ arrived about 11.00;  after a cuppa John repaired a rotten bit of wood on The Hutte.   (I painted the outside of the repaired bit later in the afternoon to prevent water ingress).   Meanwhile Janice was busy preparing lunch.... a buffet style, with hot dogs, bacon rolls etc.... which we all enjoyed, leaving a batch o’ empty plates for me to wash.... i.e. put into the dishwasher.   Emily, John and ‘JB’ then set off for John’s Cumbria, where they will stay the night with John’s parent before travelling onward to Somerset tomorrow.   It has been a very enjoyable and busy Easter/ birthday celebration; full of surprises with family coming from all directions; a memorable birthday for both Michael and me.   Well done Janice, you’re a gem... and ‘Thank You’ for everything. 

22.30    I’ve been watching ‘The Masters’ (Augusta) on Sky Go, but it disnae finish for another couple of hours so I’ll get the final result tomorrow morning    Mickelson (-8) and Speith (-7) have just finished.  A lot could happen before the last man putts out.

Tomorrow is going to be a ‘rest day’.... well maybe.   Michael and Janice are going to St


Andrews.... I might do some drawing.   The weather forecast is a bit ‘iffy’.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
