Overcast ......

5th January 2023 (Thursday)    10.00 ....I don’t know what was in the air at


06.00 this morning but the breathing tubes were struggling just a bit.   A few puffs of the inhaler sorted it, but it was uncomfortable at the time.    All is good now;  I will have a wander up  the Ferry High Street to post a letter after breakfast.... and another calming cuppa.


11.30   The sky is a bit threatening looking just now, so I’m going to have a run up to  Kinneuchar, in the car, for a change of scene, and to post the letter.   My breathing has settled down but it’s not a good asthma day that’s for sure..... so I’ll spend the afternoon staying warm in Ivy, and drawing.    The asthma always bothers me at this time of year.  Mind you, it has been bothersome since I had COVID.


20.45    I enjoyed a short walk in Kinneuchar....it would have been longer but it started to rain;  but I’d taken a few photos before that happened... and I posted the letter.  Kinneuchar was quiet:  and it was too early to visit Shona so I just came home.   Most of the remainder of the day I spent in Ivy simply because this has not been a good day for me being out;  something (I think it was the weather) had triggered my asthma.  However I have been shredding paper (it’s the grey bucket tomorrow) and sorted out some preliminary sketches of the back of the ‘Ferry Corner’ houses that had to be demolished in 1947.    The final sketches are how Sydney and Jimmy remembered the area.

‘Strong winds and sunny intervals’ is our weather for tomorrow so I might go somewhere (in the car) for a change of scenery;  I suppose it all depends on how my asthma is in the morning;   I’m feeling fine just now.

The aforementioned ‘strong winds’ are to be with us through the night and tomorrow


morning.... beginning to moderate after midday.   At the moment the wind is freshening so we could be in for a wild night.... but it isn’t raining.   Mind you we will have a bit of wind chill to cope with tomorrow.

I think it is ‘chocolate and browse the TV channels time’ again... after a quiet but fairly productive day.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
