Breezy ....


8th January 2023 (Sunday)     07.15.... It’s still dark, though the southeastern sky is starting to lighten;  and it looks like being a bonnie day.  I have a couple of jerseys going through the machine just now so I’m looking a brisk breeze with sunny spells.  I’ll go for the paper after I hang the jerseys out on the line.

21.00    It was breezy when I went for the paper and;  and especially windy at the harbour;  however it was fine in my sheltered corner.   I thought about going onto the harbour beach but it would have meant wading through a whole load of seaweed so I abandoned that idea.   It would have been really windy on the beach anyway.   I went back home and put the kettle ‘on’.... before scanning the paper over morrrrrrrrrrrrrning coffee.


The woollen wash I’d hung out at 07.30 was dry by lunch time;  in fact I wish I’d washed the single bed  linen too;  however there will be other ‘drying days’... and tomorrow could be one of them.

The wind moderated in the afternoon and I had a run to the harbour at sunset time;  it wasn’t a spectacular sunset but there was a soothing look to it.   There was still a light breeze at the time,  but it wasn’t cold.  

Today Sky News has been letting us see just how some Members of Parliament can ‘supplement’ their salary (basic MP salary £84,144 plus expenses and perks) with second ‘jobs’.... and the second jobs aren’t paid in ‘peanuts’.   Furthermore... they are the people that have the audacity to say that we can’t afford to pay hard working people a living wage.   As far as I can see MP’s are in danger of being viewed as mistletoe growing on a host tree;  but less useful!   To rub salt in the wound someone  came on the programme  and defended their right to ‘second jobs’!   It’s time for the next Reformation!

As yet I have ‘nae plan’ for tomorrow  though I might get the bike out and take a


short run round the villages to discharge the battery.   I don’t think it’s going to be quite so breezy tomorrow.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
