Windy and overcast ....

2nd February 2024 (Friday)     08.30.... Funnily enough, although overcast and windy it's not


cold, but there is the chance of drizzle now and again;  not the most encouraging kind of weather.   I'm going to stay in and do a batch of Cottage Pies for the freezer, work on the computer.... taking 'time out' to have a run round the villages (in the car) at some point.    

11.00   Having defrosted a bag of mixed fruit, I could say that I've had a fruitful morning.   Now I'm wondering what to do with it.   Eve's pudding comes to mind: it should be apples instead of mixed fruit (I have apples), but I'm in experimenting mode so mixed fruit it will be.  It's playtime in the kitchen.

16.00   Eve's pudding made with mixed fruit? ... definitely not the best of my experiments in the kitchen.   It's a tasty enough way of having one of your 'five a day' I suppose; but I won't be in a hurry to use mixed berries again, instead of the traditional apples.  I'll have another small portion with custard before freezing the remainder for 'Emergency Rations'.   As occupational therapy it worked well enough; it left me with plenty dishes to wash.   Mind you I have been feeling 'under the weather' all day;  I'm blaming that on the weather.   It has been a funny day of weather... with bright spells appearing after being mostly heavily overcast, up till now. The forecast is 'good' for tomorrow.  


While peeling tautties for Cottage Pies, I noticed that Ferry Road has been busy with traffic.... presumably using the shortest access route to, and from, 'the rest of the Planet'.   I think I deserve another cuppa.

20.00    The wind has freshened and it sounds like we could be in for a breezy night; it's moderate in the morning and we're going to have a 'bright and breezy' Saturday.   I should get out if after I've done the Cottage Pies.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
