Very windy and very wet.....

9th February 2024 (Friday)    08.00.... After a wild, wet and windy, night, we are forecast to have


a wild, wet and windy, day;  so I won't be going out to play.   At least it has washed the Saharan stoor aff the car and cleaned the air.  The rain is forecast to slowly slacken, but no mention of sunny spells.... so    it's a stay in and warm, work on the computer day.

10.45    The rain isn't quite as bad as it was so I'm contemplating going for a run round the villages in the car.   High tide is around 14.00 and with this wind direction, and  a big sea runnin', there could be some changes to the beach.    I've just enjoyed watching a film that showed bits of Brighton in 1965.... the sea front hasn't changed that much but the traffic has!.... it's now time to do some 'work'.

18.30   The wind and rain were with us all day;  the rain did relent for short periods, but the wind didn't.   However it's an ill wind that disnae blow some good'.... and it worked for me today.   The air was clean and fresh (very fresh) so I took advantage of one of the times the rain slackened, and actually hirpled down to the beach.   I had hoped to be there at high tide but we had heavy rain at that time, but was able


to go an hour later.   It was still spittin' rain but I managed to get a few photos for the Alberto Archive.  The water had come well up onto the bents where access paths are;  tomorrow and Monday are the highest tides but the wind is forecast to change direction so it shouldn't be as bad as it was today.   I might try to go to the beach tomorrow morning when the tide is out.





22.00   With an improving weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday, Iain is coming down (from Auchnagatt) tomorrow to do a few wee jobs before we go out with the cameras in the afternoon.... weather permitting.    Strangely enough I have enjoyed myself today.... probably because I never expected to be down at the beach;  having been 'confined to barracks' (more or less for the past couple

of weeks.   The wind and rain is still with us, but the wind is forecast to moderate overnight and the rain to become 'light'.   
I'm away to make my bedtime chocolate and look for something to watch on the tele for half an hour.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
