Overcast ....

21st December 2021 (Tuesday)    10.00 .... we have a heavily overcast (but


dry) morning here at Auchnagatt;  I think the weather is much the same right up the East coast.    Never mind;  today is the Winter Solstice... the shortest day, presumably between the two longest nights.  It’s only 181 days until the Summer Solstice 2022 (longest day) on 21st June.    Happy days.

15.30     I haven’t seen the tractor-men working in the fields today;  then again I haven’t been further than round the garden .... there’s a rawness in the air that has had us staying in and, in my case, working on the computer.    The troops are loupin' aboot on the Wii machine.

I see that new COVID ‘rools’ are being introduced after the 26th December;  nothing surprising about that.   The new ‘rools’ should make a difference, but they’re probably too late;  we’ve just had a ‘super – spreader’ week.  At least some funds have been made available for business’s hit by the ‘rools’;  but, thinking about that:  what if the public has discovered that, over past couple of years,  they can enjoy ‘socialising’ differently....and, even without the need for alcohol?     I guess time will tell... after all our shopping habits are changing.  They (the new ‘rools’) won’t make much difference to me.... Hogmanay is a young folk’s thing.


Iain has just brought through a cuppa and chocolate biscuits, so I shall settle down to read a page or two of 'Lord of The Rings'.

19.00    I am going to play left handed at our Wii golf tonight;  in fact we all are, but I have to because my right hand is too arthritic.   It will be interesting to see how we all get on.   


22.30    Yesss.... I can play Wii golf left handed;  (in fact we can all play left handed) .... so I am a happy bunny.   I was beginning to think that old age was catching up with me .... but it isnae.

No ‘plan’ for tomorrow but I will go for a daunder up the road..... if it is warmer than it was today.    I think the weather is supposed to be overcast but dry.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
