Mmmmmm ... it's wet


22nd August 2018(Wednesday) ... 08.00     We have a grey and wet start to

the day, but it should brighten up by mid morning;  it’s a nice morning for having a haircut.... and doing a spot of shopping.     The beach? .....  I’ll go to the beach  until after lunch, by which time it should be sunny and warm.    

12.00     Haircut and shopping done.... and the rain has cleared away leaving us with ‘sunny spells and humid’...a nice afternoon ahead.    My intention is to have a go with the new loppers (£15), once the ivy has dried up a bit.    I had to contend with two set of road work this morning;   the first immediately to the East of Upper Largo,(the pavement is being renewed), and the other at the Sainsbury’s/B ‘n Q roundabout in Leven (new MacDonald’s).    I didn’t lose too much time, but didn’t get back to Elie until after 11.15 so missed my ‘morning coffee’ at Harbour House.    It’s now lunch time.

20.30      My word .... the loppers are perfect for sorting out the ‘ivy clump’;  in fact it is going to be an easier job than I thought it would be.    The worst part of the job will be getting rid of the ivy that I’ve cut off the ‘clump’.    I enjoyed playing with the loppers;  whether the ivy will survive this serious cutting back, remains to be seen, but, when I’m finished cutting it back (which will be tomorrow) it will be a more manageable size of bush... and won’t be invading the Rowan tree.   I think it will survive;  it’s hardy stuff is ivy.

I haven’t been on the beach at all today;   and we have had a nice enough afternoon;   and it is now a gorgeous evening.   I might go for a daunder before bedtime;   however, I’m usually involved with the computer by then.  
 
Although I haven’t been anywhere;  by that I mean out on the bike or walking the beach .... I have had a pleasurable and satisfying day.   I got everything I wanted in Leven, plus a coffee while waiting for a charity shop to open.  
The weather forecast is ‘good’ for tomorrow, though we could have some light showers in the morning, followed by a bonnie afternoon.    Not much different from today’s weather.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
