Misty morning ....


30th May 2018 (Wednesday) ....09.30    I’ve been for the papers (two on Wednesday), on the bike, then back to Ivy, and down to the beach after breakfast.     It’s

another misty morning, but the sun is trying to break through so we should have a nice afternoon again:    that said, there’s a slight chance of rain later in the afternoon.    I have to stay  around Ivy Cottage until after Dr Francis phones;  after which, I’ll go out.... somewhere.   It depends on the weather, where ‘somewhere’ is.   In the meantime I'll have another cuppa before having a look at the garden.


21.00     ‘Somewhere’ turned out to be the Colinsburgh Lite Lunch’, which I’d forgotten about .... but Myra left a message on the answering machine to remind me.  
Doctor Francis phoned and said that my knee is definitely arthritic, but not yet ready for replacing.   We settled on leaving it for a few months to see I how I cope with using a walking with a stick.... and how the pain develops.    After the phone appointment I

biked along to the surgery to make a PSA blood test appointment.

It was really good at the ‘Colinsburgh Lite Lunch’:  excellent food and excellent company.    Yes the ‘Lite Lunch’ was the highlight of my day.    I’ve actually been feeling ‘under the weather’ today, and, when I got back from Colinsburgh I had ‘50’.     I woke up feeling a bit better, but not ‘better’ enough to do much in the garden, so I read the papers.

It has been overcast most of the day .... but warm.    I thought of going up to Balcarres in the evening but it’s too dull.    Hopefully I’ll be feeling more active  tomorrow.    The weather forecast for tomorrow is for ‘more of the same’... warm with the chance of a few sunny spells later.    Not a very inspiring forecast.    I don’t have anything

‘planned’ but I do have to go to the surgery in the morning, and...  the ‘Drop in Cafe’ in the afternoon.    I’ll do some more weeding, if I’m feeling friskier, in between.

It’s an early night for this boy;   the book I’m reading is coming to the exciting bit.   It’s about an Assassin who has killing his way through life to bring peace to the world.    Bit like today really.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
