Bonnie morning ....

 15th January 2024 (Monday)     It's cauld out but it's going to be a bonnie enough day as far as


the weather goes....'sunny with a moderate breeze' being the forecast   The moderate breeze is coming from the Artic, hence the cauld;  but it's fresh, and we can wrap up well.   I'll have a sortie up to Elie after the temperature gets up to about 1C.... though it will never feel warm in the wind because we're looking at -4 when you factor in the wind chill.  I might even have a run down to the harbour.... all this being done in the car.   Most of my  day will be spent 'working' on the computer. It's time for my breakfast now;  'Blob' was waiting for his when I went out at 06.50.

12.00    My word.... we have a "bright, sunny ... and slightly cauld on the lugs and hands" day;  cracker 'o a day for doing part of the coastal walk.   I've been for the paper (and got it) and visited the harbour.   As expected it was cold at the harbour;  bitterly cold out in the wind, but very enjoyable nonetheless.  A woollie hat and gloves took care o' the appendages.  


16.30  I got the feeling, when I was out at the bucket just now, that we're going to have a hard frost tonight;  the bucket lid was frozen shut!   I spoke to it nicely and it opened 'nae bother.  While I was wrestling with the bucket lid,  'Blob' and friends were hanging around waiting for their bedtime snack (crumbled up Digestive on top of the buckets).   So they've been fed.

Luckily, there's bowling on the tele just now, so that gives me something to watch during this cold spell.... and when I'm not messing about on the computer.

21.00    The work on Ferry Road has been at a standstill today.... we're between different stages of the job and it takes another team with different machinery to do the next bit;  so I've missed the hustle and bustle (and the noise) of activity outside.     A Scottish Power van did appear, and hovered about for  a wee while, but they must have been on a scouting mission.

According to the weather forecast we stand a chance of snow passing over us tomorrow afternoon, but

it could be proper snow up at Largoward etc.   Oh well I'm making progress on the computer so time isn't being totally wasted ... but it's harder to get motivated in this kind of weather.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
