Windy with showers ....

12th June 2022 (Sunday)    08.45 .... Hmmm .... it’s windy, cauld and it looks


like we could have some light showers; a day for this boy confining himself to the barracks I’m thinkin’.   I had hoped to take Alice along to the Harbour Masters ‘ouse at Dysart, but, though I only had my woollie ‘at orf for ten minutes yesterday in the wind, my heid is ‘under the weather’ this morning (shingles 30 years ago.... and I had my haircut on Thursday).   All I have to do is stay warm today;  it’s a computer day... and I should be all action tomorrow.   In fact I have already been working (on the computer) and hope to scrape the ‘romantic corner’ table once the sun gets going (which it isnae doing right now).

13.00    It’s a bonnie day now;  yes... it is a bit breezy but nothing like it was yesterday.   I have been scraping the ‘RC’ (romantic corner) table and will do more after lunch.    I’d like the top to be cleaned by the end of today.... it’s the trickiest bit.    The table is aluminium and the metal has oxidized,  and is powdery, under the original paint.  Oh... I’m feeling excitable again.


20.00   The table top has been scraped ... all I have to do tomorrow are the legs.    I have paint in the shed, but I’m not sure about the colours I have to choose from.   I’ll check tomorrow morning;  but ‘Blob’ is going to be a nuisance when it comes to painting.   Two of his ‘bairns’ are already venturing into The Hutte;  Blob and wife are contemplating another brood.

It seems that Wood Pigeons are now ‘garden birds’.... and, being bigger, they have taken over from the Collared Doves.   I don’t know where the Collared Doves have gone, but I never see any around Ivy now.

It’s been a nice enough day but it has turned cooler now.   It was never overly warm due to the wind.   Sunny Sussex is warmer.... and could be hot by the end of the week.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
