Overcast and damp ....

28th February 2022 (Monday)     08.00 .... Mmmmmm .... we have had some


overnight rain, and have an overcast sky this morning.    I hope ‘Spring’ wasn’t a one day season.   Actually this weather (‘drizzle with a fresh breeze’) is to clear away and we should have sunny spells in the afternoon, ;  and tomorrow is going to be another cracker of a day.    In the meantime it’s a day for playing with the computer.... and (maybe) ‘ousework.

18.30    It has been a drab kind ‘o day.  I went out on the bike twice, and both times I encountered spits and spots o’ rain so didn’t hang about.   I was wanted to use up what was left in the bike battery so that I could charge it, and have a full battery for tomorrow.   Tomorrow is going to be a bonnie day.... but probably cold.


21.00    I am well tired tonight, though I wouldn’t say that I’ve done very much.  I did a wee bit of ‘ousework... and did the two runs on the bike, but that’s about it as far as exercise goes.   Jings it’s only 21 years since I was able to jog up to Largoward, down to Lower Largo then home by the beach.   I guess if I got a bigger capacity battery for the bike I could do the road part of it.  

The bike battery is fully charged, and, if I have an early night in bed, my battery will be fully charged too.   I’m not sure where I will go on the bike;  I’m thinkin’ Colinsburgh, and  perhaps Balcarres.   It all depends on how cold it is.... and how fit I feel.

Slight moan.    The war in Ukraine depresses me... all wars depress me:  they really just emphasise the quality of politician around at the time.   It’s the ordinary people in Russia and Ukraine that I feel sorry for;  they would be happier just jogging along, living their lives, doing ordinary things, but are being manipulated by their respective leaders.   I keep reminding myself that the first casualty, in any war, is ‘the truth’.  Oh I don’t doubt


that there’s a ‘war’ going on but it’s unlikely we’ll ever get to know the real background to it... it will be a 100 years before that is known.   My thoughts are with the ordinary people on both sides who are suffering because of  devious politicians.    At the end of WWI the politicians set the conditions that lead to WW2, at the end of WW2 they set the conditions that led to the Cold War. Moan over.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
