Elie Estate .....

22nd April 2019 (Monday) .... 09.00    It’s a beautiful morning again (we
Kinneuchar kirk ....  and loch.
could get used to this summer like weather) so I biked through Elie Estate on my way to the ‘Paper Shop’.    I met one bird watcher at Kinneuchar loch,....  both of us enjoying being out in the early morning.    The loch was still and peaceful;   that said male swan (Cob) was keeping an eye on an immature swan that was on the edge of his territory.    The peace could have rapidly changed if the immature hadn’t paddled a hasty retreat over the territorial boundary... and out of harm’s way.    I guess swans must have boundary marks, either in their heads, or physical marks on the loch side.    I am now back at Ivy for the remainder of the day ..... well,  until evening time when I might go to the beach.

Elie House.
21.30   This morning’s bike run, through Elie Estate, was the first time I’d been round the estate since way back in November.   I didn’t notice any big changes on the way through.... apart from Stewart having cropped back some of the reeds by the boathouse.    The new houses (Oak House etc) are looking ‘lived in’.... with neat gardens.    The estate trees are starting to have the look of Spring about them.    Yes .... all is good on Elie Estate.    I forgot to tell you that I saw my first swallows of 2019 on the 18th (April);  the warm weather ... and the southeast wind will have given them an easy flight north.    I don’t usually see swallows until the 23rd.

With this being the last day of the Easter holiday weekend there’s been exodus from the

villages today;  and that’s the first big holiday weekend of 2019 over.    The next really busy weekend will be in a couple of weeks.... when the Elie (and Earlsferry) Scarecrow Festival is ‘on’.    With a bit of luck we’ll have the same kind of hot and sunny weather that we had this weekend.   Having said that.... it has been cooler today;  in fact the wind freshened in the afternoon and it was cold on the beach.    The forecast is for  -he temperatures to revert to what is regarded as normal for this time of year ...which is 10 – 12c according to the weather forecaster at midday.    He also mentioned thunder.   But that’s for later in the week .... and not for the Centre of the Universe!
