Overcast but dry ......

23rd December 2017(Saturday) .... 10.00     Mmmmmm .... another overcast morning, but not quite so heavy as yesterday .... we might have a few ‘brighter spells’ later.   I’ll go out for a walk .... only down town, but I may take a different route to get there.   Uckfield is like Colinsburgh... er .... a road with shops at either side;  except that Uckfield High Street is longer, steeper, and has a lot more in the way of shops and Cafe’s. 
14.30     I’ve been thinking.... yes I do that, okay not often, but I do it now and again:   anyway I’ve been thinking about Christmas being the “Season of loving and Goodwill”.      Why does it have to be seasonal?     There’s nothing seasonal about me;   I love my ‘girlfriends’ all the year round.... in fact I love all my friends all the year round.    I couldn’t live happily if love was seasonal!


Yesterday, when I was ‘downtown’ I bought the Christmas copy of The Big Issue from
Elie sunrise .... by my Top Secret roving reporter!     
a  seller at the bottom of Uckfield High Street.   I’ve seen her before, and, if she is the same lassie, she’s been selling on that pitch for a few years.   Now I’m from ‘the sticks’... well not really .... I’m more a beach person, and there’s a lack of ‘sticks’ where I live;  but it’s lovely, quiet place to live, and Big Issue sellers don’t have pitches in ‘quiet places’ .... not enough customers;  so I don’t often see a Big Issue seller .... not since ‘Rab’ moved away from his pitch at Anstruther Co-op i.e.    Anyway this was the ‘Christmas Issue’, and I was going to wish the lassie a “Happy Christmas” but, she was coloured (? no offence meant), and I thought I might offend her.   However she solved this ‘problem’ very easily, .... by wishing me a ‘Happy Christmas’, .... I immediately wished her a “Happy Christmas” too.   I had jumped to the conclusion that she must be Muslim .... but, even if we were of different religions, (we might both be Christians), ..... but even if we were of different religions, we both meant that the other should have a “Happy Christmas”.    I hope that all makes sense!    I’m now going to make a cuppa, read the ‘Big Issue’.
20.30      I’ve had a very restful day... oh I did go for a turn ‘roond the block’ (nae Chapel Green) which got me some exercise, but mostly it has been a day for catching up with computer stuff.... and ... wellll resting.

‘JB’ has gone shopping, to buy the ingredients to make vegan ‘cookies’.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
