Quiet, damp morning ....

1st October 2023 (Sunday)     08.30.... There’s been some rain overnight,

Leven beach.

and the KY9 forecast is good .... “light rain and a moderate breeze in the morning, then brightening up in the afternoon with decent sunny spells”.   It’s a nice quiet morning and not raining at the moment:  but I’ll go out in the afternoon.

16.45   When I was in Sainsbury’s (Leven) this morning I noticed that more of the manned checkout’s are being replaced by automated ones:  I don’t like that.  I have used the automated ones, but, I like speaking to a real person; it makes shopping more enjoyable.   Even I can’t have a conversation with an alien voice from a speaker (I have tried).  Of course, this is being done so that the supermarkets can keep their prices down!... and has nothing to do with profit:  aye... that’ll be right!  After shopping I went up to Alice’s and caught up with all her news and adventures.


22.30    It has been warm autumn afternoon...and the showers missed us so it has been a really pleasant day.   I went out on the bike....just a turn up to the Pony Field and then to Chapel Green.   At Chapel Green I met a family, from Carlisle, who are staying at Elie for the weekend.   They were saying that they counted 11 dead guillemots washed up on the beach.... most likely ‘bird flu’ casualties.    

The Ryder Cup finished with Europe winning, decisively in the end, though for a while the US of A was threatening to upset the apple cart.... with nail biting golf right to the last few matches.   That’s my daytime TV viewing finished for a while;  it will be ‘back to the drawing board’ for me tomorrow.   Typing the word tomorrow’ reminded me that, according to the latest weather forecast Monday is going to be ‘sunny with a moderate

breeze’.... a perfect drying day!   I should get out early, then charge up the bike battery so that I can go out again in the afternoon.... assuming the weather is as forecast.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
