Painting morning ....


10th October 2018 (Wednesday) ....   08.30   It’s a beautiful morning for
 Elie Bay this morning.
painting, and ... surprisingly .... I am ‘in a painting mood’.    That could wear off... because it’s also a bonnie day for going out with the camera.    I’ve been on the beach.... it was serene;  and I’m happy with this morning’s beach photos.   I had to go up for the papers early as we had run out of milk;   can’t have Cornflakes without milk.

16.30    Amazing ‘news’.....  ‘JB’ and I have been busy boys today; .... we painted the front  of ‘Ivy’.    This is really only the preparatory coat, but this would see it through the winter:  unless a really nice day comes before then, and I feel ‘in the mood’ for doing it.    The next time it will be done mostly with a paint roller.   It has been the perfect day for painting:  but I missed ‘morning coffee’ in Harbour House, and the Friendship Lunch.   The weather forecast for tomorrow is ‘nae bad’ ... but showers are mentioned for our area, so no painting.     Anyway I’ll sleep well tonight.    That reminds me:  sleeping on the two bunk mattresses turned out to be OK.     It was like
'JB' workin' like aTrojan.
sleeping on a water bed.... and I actually had a comfortable night’s sleep. 

We’re eating out this evening;  at the ‘Ship Inn’, so no food to prepare.   I’m the driver tonight.   I wonder why that is?

23.00    John and I had a pleasant evening in the ‘Ship Inn’... including an excellent ‘Bar Supper’.   ‘JB’ treated me because I allowed him to help me paint the outside of ‘Ivy Cottage’.    This has been a perfect day for painting outside;  and for doing anything outside.


We have no ‘plan’ for tomorrow;  however, I think ‘JB’ intends going for a decent walk.... something he can’t do when I’m tagging along.    I’ll go for morning coffee when I pick up the papers;  in the afternoon, if the weather is amenable, we’ll take the car over to Shell Bay and have a walk over to see the new Dumbarnie
er .... me working!
Golf Course.    John is going off home on Friday:  he’s taking the train to London and stopping there for a few days with friends.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
