Back at the centre of the Universe.....

13th July 2018 (Friday) .... 22.00     I’m home again .... at the Centre of the
Newquay 'resident'.
Universe .... after a wonderful holiday in Cornwall.     Cornwall is  beautiful part of the country, but awfie far away.    That said, the journey both ways was enjoyable, with plenty of comfort stops, good accommodation and food throughout the trip .   The two driver/couriers were top of their class, being friendly and informative, as well as excellent drivers.   The seats were very comfortable;  very important on a long journey.    The last leg of the journey was the ‘longest’ and the most frustrating for the driver because of road works around Birmingham.... and we were all well ready for dinner  when we arrived at the Barrowfields Hotel.... on Sunday afternoon.   We were not ready for Olga.   Oh my word Olga (our waitress) is a bonnie lady, but it was not her looks that stole our hearts (though they helped), it was her clinical brain.   Olga is also a very clever lady... she was a lawyer in Poland, and plans to return to, and practice her profession in the UK, after a final exam.

Monday we spent in St Ives and Penzance;   Tuesday was a ‘free’ day to do as we wished, with Wednesday back on the road again to Looe and Polperro.    I shall tell you much more about our trip to Cornwall later;  when I sort out the photographs of the various places.    There is much sorting to be done.

The journey up included an overnight stop in Warrington (Hallmark Hotel), after the longest leg of the journey north;  it seemed shorter than the same leg on the way south for some reason.     We left Warrington at 08.30 and stopped for lunch at the ‘Gateway Outlet’ place in Gretna Green, arriving back in Dunfermline about 14.30(ish), and at Ivy at 15.45(ish).    Today is the only day, during the whole week, that we encountered any rain;  leaving Warrington in heavy rain, then through heavy showers three times before we got to Dunfermline.   Over all the miles we travelled we never encountered any bad/stupid driving.    However I would say, without any question, that Fife does
The 'Royal' beach this afternoon.
appear to have the best pot holes;  both in quality(?) and number!

The Centre of the Universe is looking great (as ever), though there’s an awfie lot o’ cars on the streets.... and my car ain’t one of them.    I don’t know where I’ll moor her up when I pick her up from Brian and Moira’s ‘ra morra’.

It is forecast to be warm tomorrow, albeit cloudy;  a nice day for doing the holiday washing, and some shopping.
