Overcast and windy ...


31st December 2018 (Monday) .... 09.00    It’s cloudier and windier this
Busy beach.
morning and, yet again, warm for the time of year .... but the wind is taking a few degrees off the temperature.   At least it’s dry.
I haven’t been out for a walk yet;  the main reason for that being that sunrise will be hidden by the cloud layer.... and the wind is frisky.    I might wander up to Elie for morning coffee at 10.00.

21.00   It has been windy all day ... therefore colder.    I walked to Elie for morning coffee in Harbour House, and to buy a paper.   As long as I have frequent stops I can travel reasonable distances, albeit painfully.   There are people who can’t walk at all so

I consider myself lucky to be as mobile as I am.  Anyway let’s forget aboot the sair knee:  it was good to meet up with ‘the troops’ again after the Christmas break.   We all enjoyed time with our families;  and look forward to doing it all again next year.    Next year? .... 2019 has already started in some parts of the world... and will be ushered ‘in’ here, in four hours or so.   The villages have filled up with people wanting to ‘bring in’ the New Year. 

After morning coffee I walked home by way of the beach;  my word... it was fresh down there;  and busy.  It was very scenic:  If beaches could be happy, I think our beach would have been happy today.    As is my wont I managed to get some decent photographs of a living, happy beach.

Since then I have pottered about with the laptop, and watched ‘War and Peace’

(Tolstoy) on the tele.   In fact I’m watching it yet, and have been typing this update during the adverts.

Tomorrow is forecast to be less windy, with some sunny spells.... but, the temperature is going to start dropping and we should have frost on Wednesday morning.    I have ‘nae plans’ for tomorrow, apart from getting ‘up and out’ early for a bumble round the village.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
