Armistice Day .....

11th November 2016 (Armistice Day) ....

On this day at 11.00, as on every Armistice Day, I think of all the brave men who lost their lives in the Great War, and in all subsequent wars;  I shall especially ‘remember’ 291830 Pte Frederick Bruce, 7th Bn Gordon Highlanders, my Grand Uncle, who was KIA on 14(?) April 1918.

09.30 .... We have a quiet and peaceful Armistice Morning here;   full of ‘Hope’ for a better future,....  as it must have been in the trenches of the Western Front, on this morning 98 years ago.

21.00    Armistice Day, is the most poignant of ‘days’:   especially when you see the pictures now being released, taken at the time of the Great War battles!     It is impossible to imagine the hardship, both mental and physical, that those men went through... picture in your mind’s eye, knowing friends and comrades who had their lives cruelly ended;  and wondering when the same might happen to them.    Yes we shall ‘remember’ them,... with humility!
