Core path .....

14th June 2016 ( Tuesday) ... 09.00    the lovely evening of yesterday, extended through the night, and we awoke to a lovely, ‘bright and breezy’ morning:   however it is clouding over now, and showers are forecast for around midday.    That
Bright morning
said our little corner of Mother Earth doesn’t always get the weather that’s forecast, so we could end up with a bonnie day.   I’m feeling optimistic, and have a washing on the line.

Well I’ve biked the ‘new’ Core Path (hereafter “CP”) route through the Estate, and it’s easy to follow ... Stewart’s signage is perfect.   You leave the, what I’m going to call the ‘old’ road, about 500 metres after you pass Elie House, (this is going into the Estate by the South Lodge entrance) and follow a farm track out and round  to the farm, then down a path, to connect with the old road, about 200 metres west of the Boat House.    It is an ‘interesting’ walk, though not as scenic as the old road.    I’d be inclined to make path in, to the loch side, and create a ‘Viewpoint’, so that folks could take photographs of the loch, and Kilconquhar Church.    The “CP” route does not offer any chance of photographs, of either loch or kirk.    For me, personally, this is disappointing:   I like to see the loch, and Kilconquhar village and kirk reflected in the loch.   Hence the need for a designated Viewpoint’:   it would stop folks making their ‘own way' to the loch side.

22.00      This morning I was lucky enough to see a Red Squirrel crossing the   estate
Red Squirrel
road, and running  up a tree;  which is what Red Squirrels do.    They run up so far, then poke their head up to see what you are up to, then go up a bit further and do the same again.    I was able to get a photo of this one (Red Squirrel) up near the top of the tree,.... and,  make it even more awkward the light was behind it, so not an ideal situation.    However you can see that it is a Red Squirrel ... but that’s about all.    That was the most exciting thing that happened today..... it certainly brightened up, what became a ‘dreich’ day.     I did go down to the breach in the afternoon, and got caught in one of the heavier spells of rain.
Jim and I went along to Jimmy’s in the evening, and spent the evening discussing various ‘historical’ subjects .... ancient motor-bikes being one of them:   an interesting, and ‘fast moving’, evening.
After the bright start to the day, the weather deteriorated rapidly,.... and it’s still ‘dreich’.    Tomorrow looks like being another grey/wet at times day so I may go
This afternoon
‘shopping’ in the morning.    I’ll have ‘M’ to ‘annoy’ on Thursday:   we are going to the ‘Drop in Cafe’ in the afternoon.     ‘M’,  has an e-mail to answer, so will be on the computer for a short period of time;   I'll make the tea.    I’m hoping for a spell of nice weather of Thursday, but it, the weather, seems to be settling in for a nice wet summer.

Photographs : Top – this morning, Middle – a Red Squirrel, and Bottom – I got wet taking this photo in the afternoon!
