Elie (and Earlsferry) Scarecrow Festival ... Day 2 ....

29th April 2017 (Saturday)       08.30    It’s ‘overcast and dry’, with the sun forecast to break through later in the morning.... there is a breeze, from the Southeast.

 It is cool just now, but if the wind strengthens it will be cold, with that wind direction.    My ‘plan’ is to go out on the bike, to photograph the ‘scarecrows’.... and I’ll be ‘wrapped up’.    ‘Slight flap on’,.... I forgot to ‘fire up’ the kettle.
20.30     I have covered a few miles on the bike searching out ‘scarecrows’ today;   including my biking out to Ardross into a southeast wind.     Coming back was easy.    That said I did the Ardross trip when the wind was at its quietest, and therefore warmest!    It turned colder later in the afternoon;   by which time I was entrenched in Ivy with a hot cuppa.... ‘scarecrow mission’ nigh on completed.    Although I had my phone in my pocket I didn’t switch it onto ‘tracker’,  so I don’t know the total distance travelled.

When I went out at 09.30 I thought  I’d be the first ‘tourist’ on the road, but not so... there were a few family groups making an early start.    My morning mission ended when I saw Jimmy heading for Ivy... on the way home I met Myra who was making for the Harbour House, ... by this time the streets were busy.

After a morning cuppa Jimmy set orf for the harbour, and I went along to the Pavilion.     On my travels I met Brian twice;  the first time was as I was leaving Ivy.... he was looking for Moira and Morven;  the second time was at the Pavilion where he found Moira and Morven ... oh and ‘me’.    I ended my morning ‘session’ down at the Sailing Club with Jimmy, Steve and Gordon, .... chatted about scarecrows for a while then had a bacon roll for

lunch.    I left the Sailing Club to ‘do’ the Wadeslea area, and Ardross Farm Shop.... and was back home in Ivy about 14.30, after an enjoyable ‘day’ chatting to loads of  friends.    Actually I might do it all again tomorrow.... I like talking to people.

Tomorrow if forecast to be much the same as today... cloudy with spells of sunshine, but, ... it is going to be windier, from the East, so it will feel colder.    I’m hoping to get out on the bike again .... though I’m not keen on biking in East winds:  East winds dry the delicate skin.     The answer would be to use sun cream I guess ... even when it isn’t sunny.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
