Beautiful morning .....

15th June 2023 (Thursday)       07.15 .... It’s a beautiful morrrrrrrrrrrning.... Lesser Black Backed gull chicks. and the air is already warm:   another hot afternoon ahead methinks.    I’ve been watering Anne and Bob’s tubs (and the one on the corner at Ferry Lodge).... the sun and the East wind dries the garden up.... fast.      I haven’t been out on the bike;   I’ll do that in the evening.   The ‘plan’ is to visit Alice, have a cuppa then go to the Bargain Store.      16.00   It has been a bonnie day....warm and sunny, with a wall to wall bloo sky all day:  too hot for me in the afternoon.   As planned I went to Methil to torment Alice.... and go shopping.    The ‘Bargain Store’ is always busy but the checkouts move steadily and there’s never long to wait.   We got all the ‘stuff’ we went in for;  plus I got  a few ...er ...vital extr...

14th June 2023 (Wednesday)      07.30....We have a quiet and peaceful start to the day: and I have been for the paper (in the car).... and ‘roond the Ferry’ on the bike, enjoying what is for me the best part of the day.    There was a bit of early morning mist but that is being burnt off and we should have a hot afternoon.    I had hoped for a clear photograph of the cruise ship ‘Viking Venus’ as she went up the Firth to Newhaven (Edinburgh).... but it was too misty for a clear photo.   However I got a few photos to play with. 20.45    It’s been a lovely, bright and sunny, day... and hot (24C) in the afternoon.   Too hot for me;  but I’m sure most folks would be enjoy the hot summer sun.   I’m enjoying early mornings.... a siesta in the afternoon and a potter around in the evening. This morning I cleaned the windows;   with the window cleaning kit that Michael bought me. ...

Sunny and warm ....

13th June 2023 (Tuesday)     08.30 .... We had a misty start to the morning but Looking East along Leven beach. the sun has burnt that back and we now have a ‘sunny day with a moderate breeze’ as per weather forecast for our area.     There’s a Yellow weather warning for thunderstorms, active from midday through to 21.00, which includes Fife.     There could be interesting clouds.     Alice and I will have been to Leven beach before then: any storms, which are hit or miss events, will more likely be towards the West of Fife.... I hope. 21.30   The thunderstorms forecast for today moved up the West coast and never got anywhere near Fife;  the nearest lightning strike to Fife was at Loch Lomond.    Interesting clouds? ... not one so a very boring, more or less ‘wall to wall bloo sky all day ....and hot in the afternoon.   This is the weather I’m hoping will clear me of ‘LC’ (long COVID) on...

Heavy overnight rain .....

12th June 2023 (Monday)      08.30 .... The Balcarres Mission is on ‘hold’ at present;  we caught the edge of a thunderstorm that was active over St Abb’s Head a few hours ago and everything is wet.    The rain is much needed .... and we need more.   There’s an active ‘Yellow Warning for thunderstorms today  but  it does not include Fife so I might go to Balcarres later;  our weather forecast  for today is ... 23.5 second pause ... is ... another 17 second pause .... “sunny with a light breeze’.   It could be warm in the afternoon.... and I don’t want to be out in the heat so it’s all a matter of timing.  Breakfast has been devoured;  I think another cuppa is called for.  11.00     Change of 'plan'; t he Balcarres mission has been rescheduled for Wednesday;   the weather is fine but Balcarres Den will be wet.    Having been for the paper, (in the car because it w...

Cloudy and cool ....

11th June 2023 (Sunday)  06.45 .... The sky is heavily overcast and there’s a Eider duck (girl) at Elie harbour. chilly wind from the NNE with the feel of rain in it.   The weather forecast is good  .....’sunny intervals and a gentle breeze’, and the Yellow warning for thundery showers remains, though it applies mostly to the west of Scotland but does include the west of Fife.  (Lochgelly has had 2mm of rain this morning).    London and the southeast could get temperatures up to 30C today;  K9 up to 18C.   I’m having a cuppa before I go for the paper.   08.30     We’ve had some   much needed light rain, but we need a lot more to make up for the lack of rain over the past few months.    I went for the paper (Sunday Post) in the car ... and down to the harbour.   There's a  few wild camping tents out by the lighthouse;   not the warmest place to be on a morning such as this. ...

Nice morning ....

10th June 2023 (Saturday)     08.30 .... The sky has a healthier look this morning, with the cloud showing signs breaking up to give us  a sunny day.    That said, the countryside really needs rain after a drier than usual few months:  I noticed that the Cocklemill Burn was running low (for this time of year) when I was up at Muircambus Mill the other day.   Lack o’ rain, combined with a drying East wind, is the problem.  Right now  I’m looking for ‘bloo’ bits in the sky;  and a ‘sunny spell’s day. 21.00    Alice arrived off the 11.30 bus and we went straight along to Bowhouse to have a ‘browse’.     I was in for a surprise:   the main hall was full of stalls and stands selling foodstuff and general Arts and Crafts.   I wanted bread and honey and got both; Barnett’s bread (our local baker) and Cloverlea Honey from ‘The Friendly Bee Company (Forgandenny).   I saw loads of other food ...

Cloudy .....

9th June 2023 (Friday)     08.45 .... The clouds is still with us, but there’s a more broken look to it so we should see the sun by lunch time.   It’s a quiet morning; even the birds seem fed up of a grey sky!   I’ve been for the paper then up to Chapel Green.... the plan being to flatten the bike battery.    The battery went pfffffffffft just as I went onto Ferry Road at the Links Road junction (the phone box);   only 50 yards from the front gate.      I’m ready for breakfast now. 19.15    For some reason I went into ‘work’ mode today... as in ‘ousework’ mode.  As it was a perfect drying day I did a washing;  and then washed the bathroom, kitchen and lobby floors.   Doing the floors is my least favourite job around the house...but today was a good day for doing them.   I didn’t enjoy doing the floors; but was content, and happy, after they were done....
