Happy Tui bird .....

14th July 2017 (Friday) .... 09.00     We have a gorgeous morning; a walking day.    I’ve had a daunder along the beach to get some fresh air.     My next
Tui bird on NZ flax plant ... in New Zealand.

door neighbour Peter, who was out with the dog, joined me:   it was a pleasant change having company, and ....  conversation.

I see that the New Zealand flax is bursting into flower.... I must get some pictures.    It takes a specialist bird, the ‘Tui’ bird to fertilize the flowers ... it has the long curved beak needed to get down to the nectar.    Unfortunately we’re “fresh oot” o’ Tui birds in Scotland!   I daresay our bumble bees might have ago.

20.30    Getting older is definitely hard work;   today I changed a light ‘bulb’;   the one above my bed.  Moving  the bed was not an option, so this made a simple job

somewhat trickier.    In the end, a board on top[ of the mattress, then a step thing on top of that, gave me the height required.   It was a wee bit rocky, kinda like being on a yacht in a F3 breeze, but it got the job done;   with an  LED, energy saving, long lasting, ‘bulb’.    I bought two LED ‘bulbs’ in Leven this morning.

The ‘boy’ that “wisnae gaun tae bike doon” to the Harbour again in the middle of the day, did just that ....  today;   without any problems.    I had to go along to the Chemist hence my being out on the bike at that time of day.     Jimmy was in the sailing Club so I joined him, for a cuppa, in “Lorraine’s Place”.    We discussed, with Lorraine and Tom, the ‘Elie on the Green’ event that take place on the Toll Green tomorrow.    The weather forecast for
Evening wtime on Elie beach.
tomorrow is; ‘warm and humid with the chance of light rain at times’.

Stage 13 of ‘Le Tour’ was short, hilly, and exciting;  Warren Barguil, a Frenchman,  won the Stage .... on Bastille Day.    He’ll be a popular ‘boy’ in France!    Tomorrow’s Stage, although twice the length of today’s, won’t be as exciting,... though there is a hill at the end which should cramp the style of the ‘sprinter’s a bit.
