Sunny intervals .....

15th September 2024 (Sunday)    08.30 .... We have a bonnie, fresh morning.   There's a lot of

cloud about just now (in fact it looks like it could rain), but the KY9 forecast is "sunny intervals with a moderate SW breeze".  I have a washing going through the machine so it won't rain!   

19.30    The showers missed us and the washing dried  so I'm happy.  I went for the paper after breakfast (and after hanging out the washing) and had a trip to the harbour.   I don't know what was 'on' last night but the Toft, and the harbour Car Park, were almost choc a bloc with cars this morrrrrrrrrning.   The skiffs were going out, and Tom was out at his creels but apart from that the water was quiet.   The skiffs always look good on the water;  they were a wee bit distant from me at the harbour:  I'd have been better down on the bents, but I am happy with what I got.

I remembered to stop at the 'Paper Shop' on the way to the harbour, so felt very organised this morning.  From the harbour I meandered back to Ivy and had another cuppa before going to Methil to visit Alice.  The road to Leven was quiet; but the other side was busy with young folk going the the 'Bash' at Crail aerodrome.  The noise from the exhausts is the main clue as to where most of the traffic was heading.

Alice had the kettle on when I arrived at  Methil so we had a cuppa and a piece o' Lemon drizzle cake, before settling down to catch up with events in Methil....  and The Royal Burgh.  I'd been later than usual at arriving at Alice's so all of a sudden it was lunch time.  One of the shops Alice had been in recently had, Halloween and Christmas stock on display!   Anyway Christmas Mince  Pie are already on sale (and have been for a week at least) so we had a hot mince pie and  custard for sweet;  celebrating(?) the fact that  there are 100 days (from today) until Christmas Day!



22.30    I enjoyed Episode1 (of 6) of 'Night sleeper';  the faces of the important players are so young, but then again so are Doctors, Nurses Policemen etc now;  so that's just me being olde .... er me being mature!   It is really gripping and I'm looking forward to the next Episode.

This has been an enjoyable day;  the sunshine helps.   Tomorrow is going to be another nice day, in fact
Tom at his creels.

the next few days are supposed to be bonnie.   No plans for tomorrow, but I should finish painting the shed..... and have a wander down to the beach.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
