Lovely, autumn morning ....

5th September 2024 (Thursday)     08.45 .... we have a beautiful sunny morning, with light

breeze from the Northeast so it is chilly out in the open.   I'm going to have a quiet day.   I'll clean the wee bedroom window (the one I painted),  inside and out, then have a look at the front windows;  but this is mostly going to be a pottering about day.  It will be sheltered out in the patio so I might have morrrrrrrrning coffee outside.

09.45   The wind has freshened, the sky has clouded over; the combination of the wind and cloud means that  morrrrrning coffee will not be taken outside today!   In fact I won't be venturing far beyond the gate.  This might be a, "rin roond wi' the 'oover, flick the spiders around wi' the feather duster", and watch the Paralympics most of day!   Happy me.    Although its to be cloudy today, rain is not mentioned in the weather forecast.

20.15    Welll .... it has been a mostly grey kind o' day, but at least it was dry albeit cool on the lugs.   I decided to go to Leven to do some shopping.... and, I'd pop up to see if Alice was in residence and, if so, I'd mooch a cuppa.   I'm an expert moocher! .... but everything depended on Alice being 'in residence'.    She had ..... 34 second pause .... she had lentil soup on the hob!   so ... we had a bowl of soup, a cuppa, and a good old natter.   It had been a very successful mission;  so was the shopping. 

Back at Ivy I sorted out the messages, watched some Paralympics (table tennis), then cleaned the window glass before settling down to have a catnap.   When I woke up, and after a cuppa, I cleaned the window glass, then settled down to watch more Paralympics.

22.00   Having lost to the Turkish player, I'm glad that the young GB Table Tennis player, Bly Twomey

won the Bronze Medal.   She has worked hard to be at the level she is at today, and is a brilliant example for other young folk with impairments.   I imagine she will be a challenger for Gold at the nest Paralympics (2028).

I've had a busy and enjoyable day.   Tomorrow will be another quiet day, mostly pottering around Ivy;  pottering includes making a batch o' scones.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
